CROSSING THE BORDER novel Chapter 37

Chapter 37

Chapter 37

Eiten returned with a shocking news from Black Stone pack. The royal gamma had gone for more than a week to collect information about Rania.

“She aborted her child, because she doesn’t want it, but some people said she aborted the child because she had been sleeping with another warriors, that’s why she was not sure who was the father.”

Declan lifted his head, and looked at the royal gamma smugly. “See? Now you can see why I don’t want her to be the queen in this kingdom. She is not only disloyal, but she has no moral at all.”

An abortion was a taboo for the shifter, as they didn’t get pregnant easily, that was why every birth was cherished. Every child was a bliss.

“She is a bad luck for being rejected, not only that, she lost her wolf, and now she even killed her own baby. How she can be even worse than this?

“Do you still believe that superstitious of bad luck?” Eiten raised his brows.

“I don’t believe it, but I will always believe that keeping her will do no good for us. For this kingdom. For you.” Declan looked at Maximus. “She wanted so badly to go back to her pack, right? Return her to them.”

“You make it sounds like she is a furniture.”

“What are you complaining?” Declan shifted his attention back to Eiten. “You said it yourself that even her father said she is delusional. She is sick here.” He pointed his head.

“That remind me that people said the same thing to me.” Maximus leaned forward from his throne, as he watched his royal beta and his royal gamma bickered. “They said I am sick here.” He pointed his head and then his heart. “And here.”

With that, Declan didn’t say anything, because what Maximus said was right, people called him the Mad King for a reason, and even now, after what he learned, Declan believed, he was still going to keep that woman.

Eiten also told Maximus that the former beta Alaric, Rania’s father, was not abusive toward her, everything was in her mind only. She was punished, and was demoted to be omega because of countless offense that she had done.

“I told you, she is promiscuous.” Declan crossed his arms. “In short, she is crazy.”

Maximus didn’t respond to that for a while, but when he did, he chucked darkly. “The Mad King, and the Crazy Queen, don’t you think they rhyme beautifully?”

That was the conversation that Maximus had with his royal beta and royal gamma.

While Declan was clear where he was standing, Eiten was not as vocal as the royal beta. He said it himself that there was something amiss, but he couldn’t put his finger on it.

And right now, Maximus was in the bathroom, watching Rania wretch her guts. She looked so pale, and she became even skinnier than when she came here for the first time.

“Get up,” Maximus said, but he grabbed her elbow to help her stand up. “What are you trying to do?”

Rania looked at him with bewilderment, she wondered what she had done wrong this time. Thankfully, the king let her to cleanse her mouth, and then dragged her back to the room.

“Why didn’t you eat anything?” Maximus pointed at the untouched food on the table. “Do you want to kill yourself that badly?!”

Rania flinched when he raised his voice, but this time, she didn’t lower her head, instead she stared into his eyes.

“Yes, I want to die. Kill me. I don’t want this life anymore.”

Rania didn’t know where she got the courage to say those words to Maximus, but she was very tired. Extremely exhausted.

“Kill me,” Rania said. She didn’t raise her voice, but you could feel the chill crept down your spine when heard her. “Kill me and be done with it.”

Rania had tried to kill herself before, but Caden had tied her to the bed instead. He didn’t let her go for a few days.

And after that, Rania didn’t dare to try again, because being tied down for days in a dark room had driven her crazy. That was why she was scared of the darkness. She felt like she was being tied down again.

But not only that, her attempt to end herself was a painful moment. She cut both of her wrists, letting the blood oozed out from the wound, but she didn’t die as fast as she wanted. The whole process was an agony, and she didn’t want to go through that again.

However, with Maximus it would be different. He used to kill people, he could do it very quickly. In a blink of an eye, that was what people said about the Mad King.

“Kill me.” Rania pushed Maximus’s body, but he didn’t budge, she watched the confusion in his eyes, but this time he didn’t snap at her. “Kill me. Kill me.”

“Stop this!” Maximus pinned her down even more, as Rania struggled to fight him back. She even bit his shoulder, and if he didn’t remember this was his mate that he handled, he would have snapped her neck.
