CROSSING THE BORDER novel Chapter 44

ania vomited all the food that she ate before, her stomach churned, and the small bottle in her pocket felt like a little fire that burned her mind whenever she thought what her father had told her.

After all she had to endure in the Black Stone pack, they still managed to tangle her back, and this time they asked her to do their dirty job. She felt sick to her stomach to think about that alone.

They had a plan to dethrone the king, and she would be the one, who would weaken him. In another word, she would indirectly kill Maximus. She couldn’t believe what her father requested of her.

This was very wrong in so many levels.

Rania was heaving when she was done. Her vision was blurry, but her mind was sharp enough to tell her that she needed to let Maximus know what Caden was planning to do along with the other alphas.

‘No one will believe you.

Rania shook her head vehemently when the words echoed in her head. She had to let Maximus know.

‘No one will believe you.

And the echoed kept ringing in her head, despite her attempts to cover her ears, she still heard Caden’s voice, telling her that she was useless, worthless, no one would believe her.

He was right.

No!

Rania contradicted herself, as she let out a shrill scream. No one was inside the bedroom, aside from her, thus no matter how loud she screamed, no one would come.

After the lunch, she went back to her bedroom immediately, and had been hyperventilating, vomiting.

“My lady, what happened?” Kean came to approach Rania, she touched her shoulder, and this startled her.

Rania whipped her head up, and then saw Kean was already kneeling down next to her. Her expression was full of concern.

“What happened my lady?” she asked gently, caressing her back in a soothing motion. “You can tell me everything. I am here to help you.”

Kean hugged her, and at this moment, Rania wanted nothing to do, but leaned on someone else, she was exhausted, everything around her tired her out.

Yet, she couldn’t tell Kean what was bothering her. So, she rested her head against her chest, while she caressing her back.

However, Rania determined to let Maximus know about this. She didn’t like him, but no matter what, he was still her mate, and if something happened to him, she would feel the pain as well.

Alaric said that if she could go through the first rejection and was fine, she would be able to go through this as well.

The first rejection had killed her wolf spirit, and now, if her second chance mate died, she didn’t think she would survive.

It was either Alaric was being very ignorant, or he simply didn’t care about her wellbeing that he thought, it was doable for her to be part of their plot against the king.

“Don’t worry, my lady. Everything will be alright.” Kean hugged her a little bit tighter, and then whispered to her ear. “Just do what the former beta told you to do.”

At first, Rania didn’t think she heard Kean correctly. She lifted her head, and then looked at her with confusion that was written all over her face.

And when Rania thought she mishear that, Kean talked again about the same thing.

“Why…?Rania managed to say the word. She had a thousand question in her head, but it was hard for her to

Kean looked very sad. “Because the war killed my brother, and father, and my mother couldn’t face the fact that she lost her mate, and her firstborn, so she took her life too. I hate war. The king only did it to sate his thirst for blood, but what about those people, who died in the war that he is waging?
