CROSSING THE BORDER novel Chapter 58

Eiten was not really going to turn down Maximus’s suggestion. He wanted to know more about Rania. He felt like there was something off about the whole thing. Call it an intuition, but he was sure there was more to the story than what he had gathered.

“Go,” Maximus said sternly. He didn’t want to have a mind game with Eiten right now, and he knew that his royal gamma wouldn’t really turn down his order.

“Fine!” Eiten stood up from his seat. “But, let me be clear with you. I don’t harbor any lewd feeling. I don’t want to hear the same accusation, and was beaten up from the same reason.”

They were in the study room, where the sunlight filtered through the window. It was a beautiful morning.

“Go.” Maximus didn’t want to hear that, and Eiten walked away from the room. With that, he shifted his attention to Declan. “I want to hear the news in the morning at the latest.”

Declan groaned, but he couldn’t wave away the direct order from the king. He then stood up, and then left the room as well, while Maximus was thinking about the whole thing.

Everything was so absurd. He wanted to believe her, but the way how everything was unfolded told him otherwise.

He pinched the bridge of his nose, and tried to think about this whole think clearly, but it was hard to do so when you don’t even believe the other person. He wanted to, but it was not easy.

On the other hand, Eiten came to Rania’s bedroom, he knocked this time, and announced his presence to her.

“Go away,” Rania said when she heard his voice from behind the door. She didn’t have any idea about the fact that Maximus had punched Eiten squared on his face, and they had fought because of what happened.

In Rania’s mind; Maximus would torture her again if he found she was with another man inside her bedroom. It didn’t matter if it was his gamma or anyone else. He would be furious, and that was the last thing that she wanted.

However, she should have known better that Eiten wouldn’t just walk away simply because he was told so, especially when the order came not from the king himself. He only obeyed the kin.

Therefore, Rania was irritated when she watched him strolled into the room with that stupid smile that plastered his face.

“What do you want?” she asked sharply, but she lacked of dominance, so her voice sounded rather weak, especially to someone, who was used to dealing with the king. It didn’t bother the royal gamma at all.

Eiten flopped down on the sofa next to her like the last time. He looked at her with the same thoughtful look he gave her.

“How are you feeling?” His eyes fixed on the bandaged on her hand, the wound that she got yesterday. “What happened with your hand?”

Rania glanced at her hand and then hid it in the sleeve of her long shirt. Eiten noticed that she was wearing

the same shirt like before. And realized that she didn’t have many clothes to begin with.

“Nothing.” Rania quipped. She turned her head and then watched her cartoon again, but she had this blank. look on her face, which told Eiten that she was not really watching.

“How many clothes do you have?”

With that question, Rania whipped her head and then looked at the gamma. She didn’t understand what he wanted to know with such question, but the royal gamma laughed merrily when he saw her expression, which only annoyed her even more.

“Come on, tell me.” His voice sounded very cheerful, which made Rania feel jealous. He sounded like someone without problem. “Did Max buy you clothes?” He raised his brows provokingly. “Why didn’t you wear the dress that he bought?”

“He didn’t buy me anything,” Rania said finally after Eiten pestering her with the same question.

“He didn’t?” Eiten furrowed his brows. “No way.” But then, when he thought about it again, it did make sense. Maximus was not someone, who would buy anything for you randomly, unless you asked him.
