They arrived at the Bloody Moon pack around midnight, and Rania was very tired. It had been so long since the last time she had a long ride in the car.
The last time would be when Maximus took her from Black Stone pack to the palace, not to mention along the way Eiten would make a joke, and Rania would laugh even though she found the joke was rather cringy.
It seemed, she was in dire need to have a connection with someone. She felt lighter, and better. She didn’t stutter or shut herself anymore.
And somehow, with how good the past few days were, she got herself back. Her mood improved, though she dreaded early morning when her stomach churned, and the dizziness hit her.
“Should we wake her up?” Eiten asked, he turned around to see Rania was sleeping. She used Maximus‘ lap as pillow, while the king stared at her with this gentle gaze, which made Eiten grimaced.
He used to Maximus’s rage, and savage side, therefore to see him have such gentle side was rather appalling.
“Tell them not to make any noise, and show me our room.” Maximus nodded at alpha Kehn, who had been waiting for them with his beta, gamma and a few other important people in the pack to welcome the king.
“Okay.” Eiten then got out of the car, and talked with alpha Kehn, who looked confused at first, but then he nodded in understanding.
After that, Eiten returned to the car, and told Maximus the alpha would show his room. “Are you going to carry her? Or should I?” Eiten met with an angry glare, which he shrugged his shoulder nonchalantly. “Okay, you carried her.”
Maximus then carried Rania carefully. She was deep in sleep, as she was tired for a long journey, and laughed heartily with the royal gamma. He noted how beautiful she was when she was happy, and how the sound of her laughter was a song that he had been craving for.
Rania’s head lulled against his chest, as the king cradled her in his arms, and walked toward the pack house.
All of them lowered their head, showing their necks, as a form of submission to the king, but they didn’t say anything, because Eiten had told them not to make a noise.
However, they still couldn’t help, but gave a curious glance at the woman in the king’s arms. The rumor about this woman was crazy, especially after the two of them showed up in public not so long ago.
That appearance stirred a lot of rumors, and also strengthened the rumors that had been existed.
“Over here, my king.” Alpha Kehn opened the door to the room that he had prepared for the king. “Have a good night.”
Maximus simply nodded, and then entered the room. The alpha carefully closed the door and then left.
The room was smaller than the one he had in the palace, but this was the biggest room, the master bedroom in the pack house that was preserved for the king. Not even the alpha was staying in this room even when the king only came to visit once a year.
Slowly, Maximus lowered Rania’s body to the bed, and then tucked her in. He stared at her for a while, and then leaned in. He felt there was something wrong. Her scent altered a little bit.
Other people might not notice this, but as his mate, and they had been intimated for a few times, he could tell, there was a slight change in her scent. It was not really noticeable, but it was there.
However, Maximus didn’t think much about it, as he cleaned himself up, turned off the lights, and then lay down next to her.
It was a peaceful evening, with the soft light from the moon fell on the floor, creating a long shadow of the table under the window.
Yet, Maximus felt someone touched him, and this jolted him awake. He was a light sleeper, but to his surprise, it was Rania.
“Fuck, Rania. I am going to fuck you…” Maximus growled, but this only made Rania more excited instead.
