Connor’s eyes immediately welled up with tears as he stared at me pathetically.

“No, that’s not–Bella, please.”

“You have to believe me, I didn’t mean any harm. I just thought if these reporters came and made a big scene, maybe you’d finally accept

Connor just kept crying and shaking his head, begging me not to leave him.

His eyes were red and puffy, tears streaming down his face.

In the past, I would’ve melted seeing him cry. I couldn’t stand to see him hurt–I’d usually give in before he even started the waterworks

But now my heart felt like fucking stone.

You can only get hurt and betrayed so many times before you stop being a pushover.

He probably thought this pathetic display would make me feel sorry for him and turn back.

“I know her too well. She’s just throwing a little tantrum right now. Once she cools off, everything will go back to normal.”

Well, now he was about to learn what getting slapped in the face feels like.

Seeing me get in my car and drive off without looking back, Connor punched the ground in rage.

He got up and stormed back into the hotel, slapping Jake across the face while he was getting dressed.

“You useless piece of shit!”

“I told you to seduce Bella! All you had to do was lie in bed and put on a show, and you couldn’t even do that right!”

“And why the hell was Sofia in that room instead of next door with Emma?”

Years of me spoiling Connor had turned him into an arrogant, entitled person.

Usually people put up with his attitude because he was my husband.
