Connor stumbled back to the hotel next door, his hands covered in blood.

Jake’s words kept echoing in his head.

“You think she stayed single all these years because she was saving herself for you?”

“She just loves to fuck around way more than you know.”

“You probably can’t even imagine this, but last time you were upstairs rocking Emma to sleep? Sofia and I were going at it on your living roomi couch. How’s that make you feel? Ready to explode yet?”

All he knew was that Sofia had been playing him this whole time.

He needed to confront her.

Sofia had just gotten back and changed clothes, about to comfort the baby when she looked up to see Connor’s bloodshot eyes. She jumped.

Before she could react, Connor lunged forward and wrapped his hands around her throat.

“Sofia, what did you promise me? You said you only loved me, that you only wanted Emma. You fucking lied to me!”

Sofia was completely confused about what was happening.

Now with someone choking the life out of her, she couldn’t fight back at all.

Her breathing became labored.

“Connor, what the hell are you talking about? When did I ever… with Jake…”

Their violent argument sent Emma into hysterics, but neither of them could comfort her.

Just when Sofia thought she was about to die, she grabbed a coat hanger and smashed it against Connor’s head.

After getting the call about Jake being hospitalized, I finished my business meeting and had my driver take me straight to the hospital.

Jake had a huge bump on his head where the skin had split open, requiring over a dozen stitches.

He was wincing in pain as the doctor gave him an injection, but when he saw me, he started grinning like an idiot.

Jake rolled his eyes.

“Friends my ass! I wouldn’t want to be buddies with a piece of shit like Connor!”

“Even I couldn’t stomach the crap he was pulling. If he really liked Sofia, he should’ve manned up and gone after her properly instead of stringing you along.”

“But what did he do instead? Married you while having a baby with another woman, sneaking around with his mistress God knows how many times, then playing innocent.”

“It made me sick just watching.”

I couldn’t help but laugh.

Back when Connor and I were fighting about the baby and divorce, Jake had actually taken my side several times.
