Delete My Love for You novel Chapter 105

Charlotte left the café without a backward glance, taking the boy with her to a nearby mall to buy him some new clothes.

Once he was changed, she crouched down and smiled at him. “From now on, your name isn’t Carl. It’s Ryan Lawson. Lawson, as in ‘gifted’—a sign of good fortune.”

The boy nodded.

Thinking he might not understand what she meant by “good fortune,” Charlotte carefully wrote out his new name for him, letter by letter, and explained softly, “It means you’re a blessing—something wonderful sent from above.”

The boy smiled and traced out the word “Thank you” in her palm with his finger.

Charlotte froze in surprise.

He was mute by birth and had barely any formal education—how could he know how to write?

A strange intuition told her that Ryan was no ordinary child.

Trying to confirm her suspicion, Charlotte called Herbert. “Mr. Nelson, do you have five minutes? Could I borrow the lab for a bit?”

The research institute was under the tight watch of the Harrington Group now; professors like her no longer had free rein, only the right to run experiments as directed.

But Herbert agreed. “Charlotte, come on by.”

Charlotte took Ryan with her and, avoiding the staff, managed to slip quietly into the lab.

She used the equipment to scan Ryan’s head—and there it was: clear evidence of a microchip.

Herbert stared at the screen. “At the hospital, we only did a basic check-up. We missed the brain scan. Who would implant a chip in such a small child? From the looks of it, it’s similar to our prototype super chip, and it’s been there for at least five years.”

“Five years…” Charlotte murmured. “Ryan’s only five.” Which meant the chip must have been implanted at birth.

Her own chip had only been inside her head for two years, and already her body was struggling with it. Yet this child’s chip was in perfect condition.

There’s always someone better, always something beyond understanding. If she could trace the person who implanted Ryan’s chip, maybe—just maybe—there was hope for the one in her own body.

Charlotte knelt down, looked into Ryan’s eyes, and said warmly, “Ryan, you really are a blessing.”

Ryan’s eyes crinkled as he grinned, then tore off toward the playground.
