Delete My Love for You novel Chapter 106

But Charlotte’s eyes immediately sought out Ryan. He sat beside Darren, his small frame tense and uneasy.

She started to approach him, only to be cut off by Darren. “Charlotte, you’re on my turf now. You play by my rules.”

At his words, a few bodyguards stepped forward, blocking her path.

Charlotte shot Darren a fierce glare. His face was cold as ice, a storm brewing behind his eyes.

She snapped, “Darren, have you never heard of the Golden Rule? He’s just a child. Did you even stop to think how he’d feel when you snatched him away like this?”

Before she could say more, Xena jumped in, “Ms. Lawson, Noah’s heartbroken because of you. The doctor says he’s clinically depressed. As his mother, how can you worry about someone else’s child at a time like this?”

Xena’s words were gasoline on Darren’s barely-contained fire.

His voice dropped another degree. “You’re here today to apologize to Noah. Once you’ve done that, you can take him home.”

Charlotte stood her ground. “I’ve done nothing wrong. Why should I apologize?”

He scoffed. “Fine. Keep pretending you’re blameless.”

With that, Darren turned to Ryan, serving him two pieces of meat and speaking gently, “Eat up, kiddo. When you’re finished, I’ll take you to the villa.”

To Charlotte, that “gentleness” was nothing but a veiled threat. Was he planning to lock Ryan up now too?

The thought sent a chill down her spine. She tensed from head to toe.

The room hung heavy with tension until finally, she drew a shaky breath, steeling herself. “Noah,” she called, voice low, “I’m sorry.”

Noah just glared at her, cold and unmoved. “Hmph.”

He offered nothing more.

Darren’s brow creased.

Xena gave a tight smile. “Mr. Harrington, I don’t think Ms. Lawson’s apology was very sincere. No wonder Noah can’t accept it.”

Charlotte’s jaw tightened. “I’ve apologized, whether you like it or not. What more do you want from me?”
