She raised her eyes, gaze unwavering and resolute. “Darren, I don’t have time for this. If you trust me, I can save him.”

Lena’s shrill voice cut in, “Don’t let yourself be fooled by this woman! She’s just a housewife—how could she possibly perform surgery? She just wants another chance to hurt Noah!”

Xena fanned the flames, her tone dripping with mock concern. “Exactly, Ms. Lawson. Even if you can’t accept Darren choosing me over you, you can’t lose all sense of reason and turn your anger toward your own son…”

Accusations and slander crashed over Charlotte like a wave.

But the bodyguards were faster, grabbing her before she could get inside.

The doctor frowned at her in confusion. “Who are you? You can’t just storm into the OR. If you interfere, there will be consequences.”

Charlotte fixed him with a steady gaze. “I can operate. Let me help.”

The doctor’s frown deepened. He glanced meaningfully at a nurse—Where did this lunatic come from?

The nurse whispered, “I think she’s the boy’s biological mother. She must be hysterical…”

“Ah, I see.” The doctor’s tone softened just a little. “Ma’am, I understand this is difficult, but you can’t go in without a medical license. Unless Mr. Harrington is willing to vouch for you, we can’t allow it. Please wait outside.”
