“Noah!” Darren Harrington rushed forward in a few quick strides and swept his son into a fierce embrace, holding him tightly against his chest.

Xena Lancaster hurried after him, her tone artificially gentle as she tried to reason with Charlotte. “Mrs. Fairchild, I can understand if you resent me, but Noah’s just a child... The grievances between adults shouldn’t be taken out on him.”
