Delete My Love for You novel Chapter 204

Xena staggered, unsteady on her feet, and leaned into Darren’s chest.

He masked whatever flickered in his eyes, gently smoothing her hair as he spoke quietly. “I’ll have the driver take you home.”

After helping Xena into the car and watching it disappear down the street, Darren glanced down at a single strand of her hair caught between his fingers. The air around him seemed to drop to freezing in an instant.

He didn’t return to his penthouse. Instead, he headed for a rarely used apartment building he owned on the other side of the city.

Locked inside one of the rooms was a man—the same man who’d claimed to be Xena’s biological father at the wedding.

Darren had brought in a forensics team for an on-the-spot DNA test.

Three hours later, the results came in: confirmed parentage.

It was the exact opposite of the report he’d received before.

Darren sank into the center of a battered leather sofa, shrouded in shadows. The coffee table in front of him was littered with cigarette butts overflowing from the ashtray.

Smoke curling around his head, he asked in a low, grave voice, “Tell me—do you think, in Astra, there’s a doctor who’d risk forging records for me, Darren, just for the money?”

His personal bodyguard stared at the floor, mumbling, “Impossible…”

If anyone had tried blackmailing Darren by bribing a doctor, that doctor would’ve walked away with double—or even ten times—the payoff, just for bringing it to him personally.

After all, in Astra, Darren and the Harrington Group were the ultimate measure of wealth and power.

And yet, someone had tried it anyway.

Someone had dared falsify Xena’s paternity test, forged a pregnancy report—lied so thoroughly that even he’d been fooled.

There was only one explanation: it wasn’t about money, and it certainly wasn’t about helping Xena snag a marriage certificate.

This was about him—Darren.

Whoever could fake hospital records could just as easily fabricate an entire backstory.

Xena’s life history: her file at the Astra Orphanage, the airline record of her returning to Heston at age nine, the hospital report after the fire, the endless paperwork from years of surgeries and skin grafts…

Every page matched Shortie’s story exactly.

But there was one glaring omission: aside from these events that aligned with Shortie’s timeline, the rest of Xena’s life was a blank.
