Delete My Love for You novel Chapter 25

“I…”

Xena’s voice faltered.

That night, she’d taken advantage of his drunken haze at the bar, snatched his phone, and answered Charlotte’s call herself. She’d even played some random, risqué audio she found online, staging the whole scene to make it seem real…

She thought she’d pulled off the perfect deception, but Darren had seen right through her.

“I’m not going to argue with you.” Darren’s tone turned icy. “You were only ever a pawn to force Charlotte into a divorce. Now that I don’t need you, you can leave.”

All color drained from Xena’s face.

So all his so-called special treatment—it was nothing but a show for Charlotte. The moment she was no longer useful, he tossed her aside. So completely heartless!

Xena forced a smile. “And what about that house you sent me, Mr. Harrington? All those extravagant gifts and jewelry?”

“Keep them. Consider it your reward.”

Darren didn’t care in the slightest; a mansion worth millions, sparkling jewelry—he threw them away like trash. And Xena, she was just another thing to be discarded.

Xena clenched her fists in secret.

All this time, she’d thought she was luring him in, pulling him closer with every calculated move. When he and Charlotte finally signed those divorce papers, she was sure she’d won.

But in the end, she’d been nothing more than bait.

“Don’t worry, Mr. Harrington,” she said, voice cold and brittle. “We college grads aren’t like Charlotte, clinging to you like some parasite. Take care of yourself.”

She stepped out of the Rolls-Royce, bitter resentment glinting in her eyes.

How infuriating—I really thought I’d hit the jackpot!

Charlotte, you’re pathetic! How did you get tossed aside by Mr. Harrington so quickly?

She cursed Charlotte silently as she walked away.

Darren clicked the link his assistant sent. The image in the listing showed a black jade pendant—his pupils narrowed to pinpricks.

It was the keepsake he’d given Shortie!

Meanwhile, Herbert had driven Charlotte to an old house next to Astra Orphan Asylum.

She hadn’t been back here in three years. Dust coated the floor and cabinets in a thick layer.

She turned to Herbert, forcing a light tone. “Thank you, Mr. Nelson. It’s not every day a tech genius personally chauffeurs me home.”

Herbert chuckled. “Charlotte, I don’t deserve that title. If you weren’t hiding your talents all these years, no one in Heston’s entire research community would dare call themselves an expert in front of you.”

“If you don’t mind… just call me Herbert, like you used to at the orphanage.”

The mention of the orphanage caught in Charlotte’s throat. All she could see in her mind was that devastating, all-consuming fire.
