As soon as Charlotte finished speaking, the room erupted in a wave of commotion.
“Who does she think she is? How dare she publicly question the Griffith family’s appraisal?”
Especially here, in front of the entire World Jade Expo—an event that could determine who would become the Griffith Group’s next head—her challenge was nothing short of a declaration of war.
Gladys fixed her with a cold stare. “So, you say Number Eight is the finest just because you say so? Based on what? Are your eyes more reliable than this state-of-the-art gem analyzer?”
Her words dripped with ridicule, sparking a chorus of agreement from the crowd.
“She’s got to be joking! No matter how good your eyesight, you can’t possibly outdo the precision of a machine!”
“This lady’s just trying to stir up a little drama, that’s all.”
Charlotte faced their doubts calmly. “If I sit right here and name the flawless grade of each of those ten crystals on stage, will you still think I’m joking?”
A stunned silence fell. Charlotte was seated at least thirty feet from the display!
Even the Griffith family’s secret talent for long-distance gemstone appraisal had a limit—no more than fifteen feet.
Gladys gave a derisive laugh. “Miss, I’m not sure what makes you so bold, but let me remind you: every word you say right now reflects on Prince Simon’s reputation.”
She fully expected her warning would make the ever-composed Prince Simon step in and stop this outrageous woman.
But Prince Simon answered her in perfect Avalorian, not missing a beat. “It’s all right. I’ll vouch for her.”
“So will I!”
A deep, magnetic voice echoed through the hall.
It was Darren.
