Delete My Love for You novel Chapter 264

“Is she really back today to claim the head of the family position Ms. Griffith once secured for her?”

Mr. Todd Griffith, already leaning heavily on his cane, began making his way toward Charlotte, the butler supporting him with every step. As he drew closer to her wheelchair, tears streamed down his weathered face.

“My child... You really are Eunice’s daughter. Such a good girl—my granddaughter, after all this time! Where’s Eunice? Where is my daughter now? Is she well? Is she happy?”

The more he spoke, the rougher his voice became, cracking with emotion.

Gone was the stern patriarch everyone knew; he looked only like a frail old man longing for his family.

Charlotte lifted her gaze, a cold, mocking smile flickering at the edge of her lips.

“You really want to know where my mother is? Funny, all I see on your face is disappointment now that you’re looking at me again.”

The butler behind Mr. Griffith quickly interjected. “Miss, what are you saying? How could Mr. Griffith be disappointed? After you disappeared, he spent every day and night worrying himself sick!”

Charlotte arched a brow. “Worried himself sick? That’s a miracle in itself—twenty years of illness, and he’s still standing strong.”

A collective gasp rippled through the crowd.

“This... this woman is unbelievably harsh!”

“Exactly! Everyone knows Mr. Griffith never stopped searching for his daughter all these years. He still goes to church every week to pray for her.”

“She’s being completely disrespectful. Is this how the younger generation behaves these days?”

All around, people muttered about Charlotte’s supposed ingratitude.

Only Darren narrowed his eyes, watching the scene unfold with keen interest.

Mr. Griffith’s expression was all remorse and pain. “It’s my fault. I failed you. I failed to find you and your mother, left you both to suffer out there... I’m so sorry, child. All I can ask is that you forgive your old grandfather...”

He reached out with a trembling, bony hand, stretching toward Charlotte in her wheelchair.
