Delete My Love for You novel Chapter 277

During the surgery, Darren’s mind drifted back to a crowded underground club from years ago.

The air was thick with the stench of cheap cigarettes and sweat. All around, a chorus of harsh, jeering voices battered his ears:

“Hurry up! I can’t wait any longer!”

“Heard tonight’s freak is top-notch!”

“Mess her up a bit! The stranger, the better! Money’s no object!”

A cold dread seized Darren’s chest.

He knew exactly where he was: the notorious underground freak show on the border of Marconia, fifteen years ago.

His gaze snapped to the rusted iron cage in the center of the room.

Inside, a frail girl was curled up, trying to make herself invisible.

Charlotte.

Without thinking, Darren started forward, but his grandfather Nathan Harrington grabbed his arm. “Not yet,” came the gruff warning.

Nathan’s voice brought Darren back to his senses. They were waiting for the international task force to arrive; if they moved now, the operation could fall apart.

But before he could steel his nerves, a piercing scream ripped through the room.

Darren’s eyes darted back to the cage—Charlotte’s torment had already begun. One of the brutes had hammered a steel spike through her knee.

The girl’s shuddering agony only seemed to excite the crowd.

“More pins! Make her look freakish!”

“Hurry up! Don’t waste time!”

Cash rained toward the cage, tossed like trash.

The spectators wore savage grins, as if there was nothing human in that cage—just a broken thing to be bought and sold.

What chilled Darren most was that this ring of depravity, planted on foreign soil, was run almost entirely by people from Heston—his own countrymen, taking pleasure in the suffering of their own.

Tears streamed down the girl’s face, each one ignored. No one cared about her terror. No one cared that she was in pain.

Darren’s vision blurred red with rage.
