Dumped My Cheating Ex. Now I'm Sleeping Next to a Billionaire CEO novel Chapter 119

Emmy froze, totally caught off guard. She hadn’t expected him to dig up old drama, and honestly, she had no clue how to explain herself.

She pressed her hand to her forehead, swaying a little. “I… I feel dizzy…” she mumbled, and then flopped down on the bed with her head down, eyes darting around in panic.

James watched her terrible attempt at acting and just arched an eyebrow. Without saying anything, he shut the door behind him. Then, with slow, deliberate movements, he rolled his wrists and neck, the joints cracking loud enough to make anyone wince.

Emmy went pale. Instinctively, she wrapped her arms around her chest and shot him a terrified look.

“What… what are you doing?” she stammered.

“I swear, I’m over him! I promise!” Her voice wobbled. “I would never—never betray us! Please, don’t do anything crazy!”

James started walking toward her, step by step. Emmy shrank back until she was pressed flat against the army-green blanket.

He leaned over, raising his hand. Emmy squeezed her eyes shut, her heart thundering like it might explode.

But all she heard was his low, annoyed mutter: “You messed up my blanket.”

She blinked her eyes open and watched in confusion as he yanked the blanket away from her. Realizing her mistake, she quickly tried to grab it back, flustered. “Let me— I’ll fix it!”

Blushing furiously, Emmy sat up and started smoothing the blanket, but no matter how she folded it, she just couldn’t get the sharp, crisp corners right.

She sneaked a glance at James, who stood there with his arms crossed, looking way too amused, like a judge waiting to give her a score.

“I… I’ve never been able to fold it military-style,” she admitted, her voice small as she handed him the lumpy mess. She felt like she’d never been more embarrassed.

James let out a sigh and took over. In a matter of seconds, he’d straightened the bed perfectly—the corners sharp enough to cut paper, the sheets smooth with not a wrinkle in sight.

Emmy gasped, eyes wide. “Oh my god, you’re even better than our boot camp instructor!”

James gave her a pointed look. “Well? Aren’t you forgetting something?”

She bit her lip, took a nervous sip of water, and peeked up at him. “So… how do you want me to thank you?”

His gaze dropped to her lips, still pink and wet from the water, and suddenly his eyes turned darker, more intense.
