“Ernest, you can quit in the beginning if you can’t accept your failure. But since you did, don’t whine about the outcome.” Mason said, his hands shoved in his pockets and his gaze lazy, barely bothering to lift his eyelids.
He looked laid-back and a bit wild, but Ernest felt a lot of pressure from him. “Are you signing, or do you want me to do it for you?”
Ernest stressed. Mason gave him a lot of pressure, especially when he met Mason’s eyes. He felt that he almost couldn’t breathe. A freezing chill crept down his spine and spread through every inch of his body.
Faced with absolute power, Ernest felt all resistance crumble, no amount of background or family status could shield him now. The status and privilege he’d always prided himself on? Right now, they were nothing but a bad joke.
For a whole moment, Ernest couldn’t make a single sound. ‘Why can’t I say anything?’ he thought, panic rising inside.
Meanwhile, when Sienna heard that low, magnetic voice, she wasn’t the least bit surprised. Her expression stayed perfectly calm. She flicked her gaze upward, giving Mason a subtle, knowing look.
As soon as he noticed her gaze, Mason smiled looked right back at her. His eyes, slightly upturned ones, sparkled with mischievous charm. He was like a sly, handsome elf, dangerous and captivating.
As their eyes met, they both had smiles on their delicate faces. Ernest found the scene quite annoying. It stabbed Ernest even more, rubbing salt in the wound and making him even angrier.
His face darkened, fists clenched so hard his veins popped, every muscle in his body strung tight with rage. He deliberately bent down, his face drained of color, and picked up the contract he’d just tossed to the floor
himself.
He looked like a beat-up rooster after losing a cockfight, totally crushed and embarrassingly pathetic.
When he finally took up the pen and scrawled his signature across the debt contract, that wave of humiliation crashed over him. ‘Is this really happening to me?’ Ernest thought, bitter and humiliated.
Then, beneath a chorus of jeers and mocking eyes, Ernest and the unwilling Jessica were shoved onto the track, forced to fulfill their forfeit as the losers. With every step, they dropped to their knees, each move stiff and humiliating, the crowd eating it up.
Step by step, they knelt down, swallowing their pride every single time. And with each kneel, they had to shout at the top of their lungs, “Sophie is my daddy!” making the punishment extra loud and humiliating.
The whole thing looked like a total clown show, cringe-worthy and hilarious to anyone watching.
The rich young people and socialites present whipped out their phones, grinning as they filmed every
ridiculous second of Ernest’s downfall.
Ernest used to be the king of this crowd, strutting around like he owned the place. But now? The whole room watched as he crashed and burned, as pathetic as it gets.

“Are you pleased with the show?” Mason lowered his gaze to Sienna, his charming eyes upturned and striking.
“Those two? Just extras,” Sienna said with a lazy arch of her brow, her eyes gliding over to the other side. “The real deal’s up next.”
Sienna’s eyes zeroed in on Declan and Cora, who were blocked from escaping by Alvin and his crew just a short distance away.
The moment they caught Sienna’s eye, both of them went ghostly pale, their whole bodies trembling uncontrollably.
They looked absolutely terrified, faces drained of color, shaking so badly you’d think they were about to collapse.
The moment Mason walked in, they started desperately trying to make themselves invisible, scared out of their minds he would notice them.
Nobody knew better than they did how messed up and cruel their emotional manipulation of Sophie had been-all that toxic PUA stuff, they’d crossed every line.
Back then, they’d counted on Sophie being their personal puppet, totally under their control. As long as she kept her mouth shut, Mason would never have a clue about the crap they’d pulled on her.
But the moment Mason showed up, both of them instantly got cold feet, hearts racing with dread and guilt. No matter what, they couldn’t stop themselves from freaking out inside.
Especially after watching Ernest get utterly humiliated just now. It made them even more terrified of what might be coming their way.
Declan’s heart raced so hard it nearly jumped out of his chest. His eyes darted in desperation, clinging to Sophie like she was his lifeline. “Sophie… Sophie! I swear, I had nothing to do with this, Please, I’m begging you, put in a word for me with her. I didn’t even race, and I never agreed to any stupid bet…”
The very idea of being forced onto that track, kneeling step by step just like Ernest and Jessica were doing now, was downright unbearable for him. He’d honestly rather die than face that kind of humiliation.
Declan rushed over to Sophie like a drowning man grabbing onto a lifeline, voice shaky and on the verge of tears. “Sophie, come on, we’ve basically grown up together… Don’t we have something special? Please, just help me out. Talk to Mr. Brown for me, and maybe say something to Sienna too…”
While he babbled, he reached out desperately to grab her hand. “Remember what I said? On your birthday, I promised I’d give you whatever you wanted most. Let me do it now. Forget waiting for that day! I was saving it for then, but let’s make it official today! Please, Sophie, can we just be together? Right now, for real!
“Sophie, I get it, you hate me hanging out with Cora. I swear, from this second on, it’s over. I won’t even speak to her again! I promise, it’ll be all you from now on, no more Cora, just you. Please, just give me a chance!” Declan’s voice was shaking so badly it was barely recognizable.
“Declan?” Cora blurted out, completely floored. She couldn’t believe he’d wimp out like this, so gutless, so selfish, ready to ditch her just to get himself off the hook. ‘Seriously? Now he wants to cut me loose and act like I don’t even exist?’ Cora fumed, her heart sinking hard.

She’d fought tooth and nail just to escape that backwater. Finally, she was living like somebody. For once, she actually had a taste of high life. But if Declan ditched her now, she’d be right back where she started.
Without him, how was she supposed to keep up this life? ‘No way-I’m not going back to that dump. Never!” Cora thought, panic clawing at her heart.
Cora was a mess, tears streaming down her face. “Sophie, you saved my life. My whole world is yours! We’ve always been like family, the closest of friends! Please, I’m begging you… I can’t go out on that track and kneel with them. I’m innocent, you know I am…”
Sophie found herself cornered by these two pathetic losers, one on each side, both of them clinging to her like desperate leeches.
Looking at these ridiculous clowns putting on such a cringe-worthy show, Sophie just thought, “This is so embarrassing and absurd, I almost want to laugh.’
Sophie just felt ridiculous. How could she have ever been so stupid as to let these two wannabe hustlers play her for a fool?
Her whole expression turned frosty. She stared them down and swatted their hands away, eyes full of disdain.

“Declan, when did I ever say I wanted you? Stop fantasizing. Get real!” Sophie snapped, her tone icy with
contempt.
‘Yeah… Sophie admitted to herself, her face cold. She couldn’t deny it.
She’d imagined taking Declan’s hand for the very first dance at her coming-of-age party, and then boldly announcing to everyone he’d be her boyfriend.
But really, she only ever thought about it because Declan was constantly hinting and leading her on. It was all his manipulation, planting the idea in her head from the start.
They’d pretty much grown up glued to each other. Sophie spent most of her life stuck at home, thanks to her health issues, barely ever seeing anyone besides Declan.
With Declan constantly feeding her hints and shaping her thoughts, it’s no wonder she ended up falling for him. It all felt so natural back then.
Deep down, Sophie truly believed that once she was finally an adult, she and Declan would make it official.
