“Being able to eat a lot was a good thing,” Rolf said firmly, cutting Amanda off. His cold eyes warned her. “Sienna just saved someone. She should eat more to get her strength back. Or is the Cooper family too poor to feed her?”
Pansy also gave Amanda a disapproving look. “Amanda, Sienna just spent two hours in the operating room saving a life. Right now, she needs to recover her strength. Besides, seeing her enjoy the food I cooked makes me genuinely happy.” Her face lit up with pure joy.
As she saw how both her grandpa and mom sided with Sienna, Amanda’s face darkened. She felt angry and wronged.
Ever since Sienna came back, it was like she had turned into the unwanted outsider in this house.
She bit her lip hard, her jealousy making the food taste like nothing. Anger burned in her chest until she finally spoke up. “I heard from Eden about Sienna saving someone at the hospital. I didn’t expect her to be so capable.”
She put on a look of admiration, her voice full of fake enthusiasm. “Sienna, you’re so young yet already so good at medicine. The Fairbank family must’ve really loved you to raise you this well. Where did you learn your skills?”
At the mention of the Fairbank family, Rolf and the Coopers’ faces shifted slightly.
Before bringing Sienna back, they had already looked into her years with the Fairbank family.
Sienna had been sent to the countryside as a child and raised by Zea, her grandmother. The Fairbank family had never once trained her or nurtured her.
And that was exactly what Amanda wanted to highlight. She didn’t believe for a second that some country girl could’ve had the chance to learn real medical skills.
In her eyes, the so-called hospital rescue was just Sienna using her Cooper family name to pressure Eden into putting on a show so she could stay here.
Amanda figured her grandpa and parents were sharp enough to see through it. She waited for them to call Sienna out and humiliate her.
But the scene she pictured never happened.
Rolf looked pleased. “That’s my granddaughter-outstanding.”
Gerard’s face was full of pride. “That’s my daughter-truly gifted.”
Pansy’s eyes sparkled as she admired Sienna. “That’s my precious daughter-so young and already so skilled in medicine.”
Amanda stared, dumbfounded. This was the complete opposite of what she expected. Not one of them questioned how a country girl could know medicine. Instead, they looked at Sienna through rose-colored glasses.
Her nails dug into her palm from how hard she clenched her fists. Swallowing down her jealousy, she forced a smile and said, “Sienna, since you’re so skilled you can save car crash victims, then you must also have a way to treat Grandpa’s legs, right?”
Her beautiful eyes shone with what looked like pure hope, as if she truly wished Sienna could cure him.
But those words instantly shattered the warm atmosphere at the table.
Gerard and Pansy’s faces darkened, their expressions heavy as they turned to Amanda.
