“I want to be Mrs. Walker! To stand by your side publicly! To hold my head high in this industry! We’re both Whites –if Rebecca could, so can I!”

Vincent fell silent, his icy stare piercing Susan until her courage withered.

“You’ll never measure up to Rebecca. Don’t deserve to be mentioned in the same breath.”

The words struck Susan like a physical blow. She stood frozen as Vincent strode out without a backward glance.

His secretary had already alerted the police per Vincent’s orders, handing investigators the hospital staff roster.
