From a Wrong Turn to Mr. Right novel Chapter 2

Daniel Gill was seething inside, his voice edged with threat. “Olivia, get in the car. We’re just going out for meal. Don’t make me drag you.”

Olivia Bennett couldn’t believe how shameless he was being. But the look in his eyes told her he was dead serious. She glanced around—no one else in sight.

If he really tried something, she knew she wouldn’t stand a chance.

“What do you want from me?” she snapped.

“Get in.” Just two words, but there was no mistaking the command behind them.

Olivia took a deep breath, swallowing her anger as she reached for the back door.

It wouldn’t open.

Seeing her expression darken, Daniel hesitated. He wanted her in the front seat, but he let it go and unlocked the back door instead. He really didn’t want to force her unless he had to.

Olivia slammed the door shut behind her so hard it could’ve rattled the windows.

Daniel gripped the steering wheel, bitterness rising in his chest.

Olivia crossed her arms, closed her eyes, and pretended to sleep, making it impossible for Daniel to start a conversation.

They drove in tense silence to the restaurant, where Daniel had already reserved a table.

“Olivia, look, I got your favorite—grilled salmon,” he said, his voice gentle. “Remember our first date? We came here, and you told me this place had the best salmon in town, but you hated picking out the bones.”

He carefully picked out the bones and placed a piece of fish on her plate, smiling at her like the sweetest boyfriend anyone could imagine.

To any outsider, he looked like the picture of caring devotion.

But Olivia didn’t even lift her eyes. She sat there, unmoved, as if the person he was talking about had nothing to do with her.

Daniel went rigid, his face draining of color. “Olivia, don’t joke about that.”

She laughed, sharp as ice. “Who’s joking? Don’t you remember? Wasn’t it you who—”

“Enough!” Daniel snapped, his expression stormy.

Olivia could only scoff. “What’s wrong? Getting angry about your own actions?”

A storm flickered in Daniel’s eyes. For a long moment, he said nothing. Then, in a low voice, “I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have yelled. But you can’t keep this baby. I’ll take you to the clinic.”

Olivia let out a strangled laugh, almost in tears from the absurdity.

She looked Daniel straight in the eye, her voice colder than a January wind. “So you think if I end this, it’ll all just go away like it never happened?”
