Ethan Carter’s dark eyes flickered as he fixed his gaze on her. “What am I to you?”

Olivia Bennett had to think for a second to remember what she’d said. With his eyes locked on her, she felt her cheeks flush. “Is that really the point here?”

Ethan didn’t miss a beat. “It is.”

Olivia opened her mouth, then closed it, speechless.

He wrapped an arm around her waist, pulling her closer, pressing a soft kiss to her lips before resting his forehead against hers. His voice was both teasing and gentle, “Come on, Olivia. Say it again. I want to hear it from you.”

It was the first time he’d ever heard her call him that.

He liked the sound of it—a lot more than he expected. It did something to him, something he couldn’t quite explain.

Olivia tried to squirm away, but she was trapped. The way he said her name made her ears burn. She bit her lip and, under his heated gaze, finally whispered, “You’re my husband. My one and only, okay?”

Her cheeks were flushed, but she looked proud—like she’d just accomplished something difficult.

Ethan’s heart thudded in his chest.

His eyes softened. He pressed his lips to hers again, this time letting the kiss deepen, taking in everything she was willing to give.

Olivia felt her mind go hazy beneath his kisses, his hands skimming over her shirt, sliding up her waist. As his touch started to wander higher, her senses slowly returned.

She turned her head, breaking the kiss.

Ethan stilled, burying his face in her shoulder. His breath was hot against her neck and ear.

Her own breathing was shaky. After a moment, she whispered into his ear, “You don’t have to hold back. The doctor said as long as you’re gentle, it’s fine.”

He’d held himself back so many times for her.

She’d read somewhere that too much restraint wasn’t good for a man’s health.

Ethan’s control slipped the moment she said that.

His gaze darkened, then he kissed her ear, barely a whisper, “I’ll be careful. If it’s too much, let me know, okay?”
