He had no shame, but she definitely did.
With so many eyes on them, Olivia couldn’t help but feel a little self-conscious—even if her skin was a bit thicker than most, it wasn’t that thick.
Ethan Carter had one arm wrapped firmly around her waist as he gently pulled her hand away from his mouth.
“There’s a crowd out there,” he said, grinning. “If I don’t hold your hand, we might get separated.”
“Don’t twist my words,” Olivia shot him a glare. “I meant don’t hold my hand in front of my family. Who does that at home, anyway?”
Ethan pressed a quick kiss to her cheek, answering with disarming honesty, “I do.”
Olivia was speechless. She shot him another look and made a move to get up.
Forget it. His shamelessness was on a whole other level. She surrendered.
Ethan’s arm tightened around her waist, making it impossible for her to get up. She let out a small sigh and pinched his cheek, tugging playfully. “You really are shameless.”
She didn’t use much force—it didn’t hurt.
Ethan chuckled, “You know, you’re the first person who’s ever dared to pinch my face.”
Olivia’s eyes sparkled, and she huffed, “So what? You gonna hit me, tough guy?”
“You said it.”
With that, Ethan raised his hand, gently cupped her chin, and pressed his lips to hers.
Any protests Olivia had were quickly silenced.
At first, she hit him a couple of times on the shoulder, but soon even her arms felt weak.
When he finally pulled away, Olivia’s eyes were glassy, her glare lacking any real bite. In Ethan’s eyes, it was more alluring than threatening.
Unable to help himself, he stole another kiss before whispering, “If I actually hit you, that’d be domestic violence. This is the only way I can get back at you.”
Olivia turned her head away, muttering, “Yeah, right. You get away with everything and still act innocent.”
Ethan’s eyes danced with laughter as he hugged her tighter, resting his chin on her shoulder. His deep, warm voice rumbled low in her ear, sending shivers down her spine.
“Well, I need a darling to act innocent for.”
Olivia felt her ears go soft, her cheeks—which were already pink—burning even hotter.
