Both of them instinctively turned to look.
A gaunt, haggard-looking middle-aged man with dark circles under his eyes was blocking the path of two girls, his whole demeanor radiating anger and menace.
As luck would have it, Olivia Bennett recognized one of the girls—it was Catherine Blair.
"Daisy Dale," Adelina Lane muttered, her brows knitting in concern.
Olivia glanced at her, puzzled. "Daisy Dale?"
Adelina explained quietly, "Shirley Carter’s daughter."
Understanding dawned on Olivia. "So, the two of them..."
Adelina quickly grabbed Olivia’s hand. "Let’s not get involved," she whispered.
Olivia nodded. She knew better than to jump into trouble, especially considering her own health.
They stayed where they were, watching the situation from a distance.
Over by Catherine and Daisy, the scene was tense. No one dared come near. The man’s furious shouting had sent people backing away, leaving the three of them in a little island of unease in the middle of the crowded park.
Catherine, startled by the man’s appearance, tugged Daisy back a couple of steps.
"I—I didn’t do it on purpose. And honestly, I’m not wrong. It’s just a stupid toy car. Why are you freaking out?" Catherine retorted, her fear fighting with her indignation.
The man glared at her, eyes burning with rage. He glanced down at a smashed model sports car—clearly a LEGO creation—on the ground between them.
"It’s not just a stupid toy!" he barked. "I’m telling you one more time: pick it up and apologize."
