From a Wrong Turn to Mr. Right novel Chapter 244

This wasn’t a tantrum—her face was dead serious.

Shirley Carter was genuinely stunned.

She frowned, puzzled. “I thought you really liked Catherine?”

“Not anymore. I don’t like her, and I never will again.” Daisy Dale’s eyes were rimmed red, as if she’d just been betrayed by her best friend. “I don’t ever want to see her again.”

To Daisy, Catherine Blair had always been one of the most important people in her life. For her to say this, something big must’ve happened—something that totally changed the way she saw Catherine.

Shirley’s brows knitted together. “What did Catherine do?”

Daisy pouted, and didn’t bother to hide the truth from Shirley. She told her what happened, though she left out anything about Adelina Lane.

By the time Daisy finished, Shirley’s face had gone as dark as burnt toast.

She honestly hadn’t expected Catherine Blair to throw Daisy under the bus like that.

If anything had happened to Daisy, no number of apologies from Catherine could ever make up for it.

A flash of anger shot through Shirley’s eyes. She gently lifted Daisy’s chin.

Daisy had been pampered since she was little—her skin was pale and delicate. Even after all this time, you could still see a faint red mark on her neck.

“How dare she!” Shirley slammed her palm down on the armrest of the couch, her voice shaking with fury.

Daisy, worried Shirley would get even more upset, quickly said, “It doesn’t hurt anymore. But I’m never hanging out with her again. Ever.”

Shirley looked at her with pure sympathy. “Keep your distance from her, sweetie. I never would’ve guessed that little Elaine could be so two-faced. She always seemed so quiet and harmless, but she had the nerve to bully my daughter?”

Daisy’s eyes shimmered with unshed tears.

She never thought that Catherine, who’d always acted so sweet to her, would do something like this.

The moment Catherine pushed her out there, it felt like the ground had crumbled beneath her feet.

Shirley took a deep breath and pulled Daisy into a hug. “It’s okay now. I promise, she won’t get another chance to hurt you.”
