From a Wrong Turn to Mr. Right novel Chapter 247

Olivia Bennett’s cheeks went bright red in an instant.

Elaine Carter grinned, “Oh, it’s nothing. I’m just surprised at how thoughtful Ethan is sometimes.”

Adelina Lane just laughed, completely unfazed. “Come on, Ethan’s not made of stone. Once you’re married, you learn to take care of your wife.”

Elaine nodded in agreement, then turned to Olivia, noticing how flustered she was. Deciding to drop the subject, she waggled her camera in front of Olivia. “Hey, Olivia, will you take some cute pictures of me later? Pretty please?”

Olivia smiled, happy to help. “Sure, I’d love to.”

Elaine lit up. “This camera’s been sitting in my closet forever. I barely used it, and I had to dig around just to find it. Finally, it gets to see the light of day!”

Olivia took the camera and gave it a quick once-over. It was definitely an older model, but knowing Elaine, it was still top-of-the-line. Even if it wasn’t the newest, it probably outperformed ninety-nine percent of the cameras out there.

After swapping out their boots for snow ones, the three of them stepped outside into the backyard.

Everything was covered in a blanket of white. The snow sparkled, untouched.

Elaine was practically bouncing with excitement. She grabbed Olivia’s arm and planted a quick kiss on her cheek. “Olivia, I seriously adore you.”

She used to play out here alone, which wasn’t much fun. But now, with Olivia around—someone her own age—it just felt brighter, happier.

Olivia blinked, a little stunned by the sudden affection, but she quickly grinned back. “I adore you too.”

And she meant it. She’d grown up wishing for a little sister she could laugh and mess around with. After just a few days hanging out with Elaine, she’d truly started to think of her as family.

Elaine beamed, but then her eyes darted to Ethan Carter, who was standing off to the side, looking… well, less than pleased. She edged away from him, rolling her eyes.

Jeez, what a grump. It’s not like I kissed his wife romantically or anything. And I’m not a guy!

Elaine scanned the snowy yard, her gaze landing on Olivia’s mittens. An idea popped into her head. “Wait here! I’m gonna grab my gloves and a couple of things from the garage. Let’s build a snowman in a bit!”

Olivia was totally on board. “Sounds great.”
