Olivia Bennett stared at him in disbelief. “Wait, you got me a red envelope too?”
Ethan Carter nodded, holding it out. “Yeah, here.”
She couldn’t help but laugh, shaking her head. “Why on earth would you give me a red envelope? I’m not a kid, you know. I’m your wife, not your niece.”
She could understand getting birthday cards or Christmas gifts from the older folks, but this? Even her husband was getting in on it.
She tried to refuse, but as soon as she reached out, her hand was suddenly full.
“And who says there’s a law against giving your wife a little New Year’s money?” Ethan grinned.
Olivia was stumped. Well, there really wasn’t a rule against it.
She gave in, taking the envelope with a little giggle. “Alright, fine. I’ll accept it.”
She stacked it with the others she’d gotten tonight. Four in total, each slim but a telltale weight. She didn’t even have to open them to know what was inside.
Yup, more debit cards.
Olivia smirked. “I’m going to end up with a whole drawer full of these, you know.”
He’d given her one before, now here were several more. At this rate, she’d be able to start her own bank.
Ethan shrugged. “No harm in keeping them.”
“You really talk like someone who has money to burn,” Olivia teased. “Rich people are just different, huh?”
He pulled her onto the couch next to him and wrapped his arms around her. “You could talk that way too, you know. My money’s yours. Remember that first card I gave you, right after we got our marriage license? That one has no spending limit. The new one does.”
Olivia’s eyes widened. Truth be told, when Ethan first handed her that card, she’d tucked it into a drawer and never touched it again. She had no idea it was limitless.
“You gave me unlimited funds right after we got married? Weren’t you afraid I’d run off with your money?”
