From a Wrong Turn to Mr. Right novel Chapter 272

My neck was starting to ache again.

Shirley Carter gave Daisy a gentle pat on the shoulder. “It’s alright, honey. If you don’t like them, you don’t have to see them. No need to get upset over people like that.”

Daisy Dale nodded, managing a weak, lopsided smile.

But the smile hardly lasted a second.

There was a muffled commotion outside, voices rising in the foyer.

A moment later, the housekeeper, Olivia, rushed in, looking hesitant. “Ms. Carter, they’re still outside… they keep shouting your names.”

Shirley let out a slow breath, her face tightening with annoyance. She’d been hoping to ask Olivia to call security, but instead she just sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose. “Fine. Let them in.”

Olivia was about to leave when Daisy cut in, her voice sharp. “Wait.”

She looked at Shirley, her confusion and irritation plain on her face. “Why do we need to let them in? I don’t want to see them.”

Shirley shrugged. “If we don’t deal with them now, they’ll just keep coming back. Better to settle this once and for all.”

Daisy puffed out her cheeks in frustration. “Then you talk to them. I’m not doing it.”

With that, she stomped upstairs, her footsteps echoing through the old house.

Shirley didn’t try to stop her. She just waved Olivia off.

Olivia nodded and left for the foyer.

As she approached, Addie David tugged at her daughter Catherine’s sleeve, anxiously watching Olivia. “Are Shirley and Daisy willing to see us now?”

Expressionless, Olivia opened the door wider. “Go ahead.”
