From a Wrong Turn to Mr. Right novel Chapter 273

Shirley Carter stood her ground, her gaze sweeping over the two women without a trace of emotion—cool, steady, distant. Then the corner of her mouth curled into a cold smirk. “Don’t call me Addie. I’m definitely not your Addie.”

Addie Davis’s face paled. She quickly tried to smooth things over. “Shirley, come on, don’t say that. I know Catherine messed up and you’re furious, but we’re still a family. You’ll always be her Addie, no matter what.”

“I already gave her an earful at home,” Addie went on, her tone desperate. “She knows she screwed up. We’re here so she can apologize to you in person. Catherine, go on, say you’re sorry.”

She gave Catherine Blair a firm nudge.

Catherine blinked back tears, her cheeks red and eyes brimming. “Addie… I’m so sorry. What happened before—it was my fault. I wasn’t thinking straight, I panicked, and I never meant for Daisy to get hurt. I swear, it wasn’t on purpose. Please, Addie, can you forgive me?”

Shirley’s expression didn’t shift an inch. She stared Catherine down, her voice thick with sarcasm. “Why should I forgive you? You didn’t hurt me.”

Catherine froze, at a loss for words.

Addie was quicker to recover. “Daisy, then? She’s the one you should really apologize to. She must’ve been terrified.”

“She doesn’t want to see you,” Shirley replied flatly.

Addie’s face went an awkward shade of pink. She tried to laugh it off. “Daisy’s still mad, huh? That’s okay. Next time we see her, Catherine will apologize in person.”

“No need,” Shirley cut in coldly, her eyes sharp. “Daisy said she never wants to see you again. So do her a favor—stay away. Don’t show up in front of her again. You’re not welcome.”

The words landed like a slap in the face—harsh and humiliating.

Catherine dropped her gaze, resentment flickering in her eyes.
