From a Wrong Turn to Mr. Right novel Chapter 308

The night was thick and inky, moonlight streaming through the bedroom window, painting everything in a pale, silvery glow.

On the desk in front of Olivia Bennett sat a simple glass vase filled with a wild, joyful jumble of flowers—daisies, sunflowers, tulips, and even a few sprigs of eucalyptus. The colors were so bright and bold, they looked like something out of a summer picnic, a riot of colors that stood out against the calm, soft tones of the bedroom.

Olivia traced her fingers over one of the petals, lost in thought, until she heard a familiar set of footsteps behind her.

She didn’t turn around. The next second, a pair of strong, warm arms wrapped around her from behind, pulling her back against a broad chest.

“You really do like them, huh?” Ethan Carter’s voice rumbled from behind.

Ever since she’d brought the flowers upstairs, she’d barely taken her eyes off them.

A little smile curved Olivia’s lips. She nodded. “Don’t you think they’re pretty? Mom and I arranged them together.”

Her pride was obvious.

Ethan looked over her shoulder, considering. “Yeah, they’re really nice.”

She shot him a skeptical glance. “Do you actually think they’re nice, or are you just humoring me?”

“They’re beautiful,” Ethan said, with zero hesitation.

“Alright, I’ll believe you.” Olivia sank a little further into his embrace, feeling completely safe. She looked back at the flowers, her thoughts drifting to a moment from earlier that afternoon.

Her expression softened. “Do you know what I was thinking, while I was arranging those flowers and sneaking glances at you?”

Ethan leaned down, curious, his breath warm against her ear. “What were you thinking?”

It tickled. Olivia swatted his hand lightly, signaling for him to let go. Once he did, she turned around and leaned back against the desk, looking up at him.

“I was thinking,” she said, “I can’t believe this is my life now. I have someone I love, my parents are here, and we’re all together, just enjoying a quiet evening. I never thought I’d get to have something like this.”

It was the kind of happiness she’d barely dared to dream about.

But here it was, real.

Her parents were back, and thanks to marrying Ethan, she’d gained a whole new family.
