“I’ve already agreed to what Stephanie asked for,” Olivia Bennett said, her voice calm as she leaned against the doorway. “You two can just come at your scheduled time—no need to show up one after the other every day. I’m not going anywhere.”

Daniel Gill felt like someone had shoved a shard of ice straight through his heart, leaving him raw and bleeding. He stared at her, lost and wounded. “How could you agree to something like that?”

“And why wouldn’t I?” Olivia cocked her head, her face impassive. “It’s business, Daniel. She’s paying, I’m delivering. Why should I refuse?”

“You really don’t care at all?”

“Care about what exactly?”

The way she said it—light, indifferent—cut deeper than anything else.

Daniel’s insides twisted with something he couldn’t name, like he’d swallowed a mouthful of raw horseradish and couldn’t spit it out. He wanted to get the bitterness out, but all he could do was swallow it back down.

He searched her face, desperate for a flicker of feeling, for anything.

There was nothing.

She truly didn’t care.

The ache in his chest radiated through his veins, leaving him numb. He clenched his fists, forcing himself to stay calm, though his voice was thick with pain. “How could you agree to take our—”

He tried to say the words—wedding photos—but they stuck in his throat, sharp as broken glass, choking him.

Olivia frowned, her patience clearly worn thin. “I told you, this is my job. You pay, I work. If you’ve got a problem, take it up with Stephanie.”

“This is between you two, husband and wife. Figure it out at home. If you want the pictures, come in. If not, just say so. I can’t spend every day dealing with your drama—you today, her tomorrow. I’ve got other clients, you know.”
