Chapter 245 Why Won’t You Help Me?
Zaden’s eyes were full of mockery. “Do you dare to do it?”
That one line made Lewis go silent. He hadn’t expected Zaden to challenge him like that.
For a moment, his mind went blank. He wanted to argue, but he was afraid he might say the wrong thing.
In the end, he kept his mouth shut.
Watching Zaden’s calm confidence, Athena grew even more certain that the girl with Lewis- this so-called Anna-wasn’t her daughter.
Lewis had lied to her!
She let out a bitter laugh, her voice cold. “Where’s my real daughter, Lewis? Where did you send her all those years ago?”
Seeing that Athena didn’t believe a word he said, Lewis knew there was no point in talking anymore. He glared at Zaden.
It’s all his fault!
But Zaden didn’t flinch. He met Lewis’ glare and said evenly, “Oh, and one more thing. You might want to get ready for a chat with the police.”
A chill ran through Lewis. He had a bad feeling. “What are you talking about?”
Suddenly, he remembered Nina. He’d shoved her and never checked on her afterward. He had no idea what had happened.
Could Nina be…
The thought drained the color from his face.
Right then, several uniformed officers rushed over, snapping handcuffs onto his wrists. One of them said sternly, “Lewis Belmont, we have a warrant for your arrest. You’re suspected of being involved in a murder case. You’ll need to come with us for questioning.”
Lewis started fighting back immediately, yelling, “Let me go!”
Zaden said coolly, “You divorced Nina just to get back with Athena. It may not be called murder between husband and wife. What about between strangers?”
Lewis’ face turned even darker at Zaden’s words. His chest tightened.

Was it really Nina? Was she dead?
“Come with us,” the officers ordered. Lewis panicked as they dragged him away.
Athena was still in shock, slowly putting the pieces together. She turned to Zaden. “Did he kill Nina?”
“No.” Zaden said calmly. “He tried to. They fought, and she got hurt, but my people got there in time. She’s alive. But after what happened, she’s done with him. She reported him for attempted murder.”
After hearing everything, Athena wasn’t surprised at all. She’d expected that outcome.
Lewis had always been that cold.
Once he stopped caring, he could turn cruel, even violent. Hurting Nina wouldn’t have been out of character for him.
Back when he was obsessed with Nina, he hadn’t hesitated to throw away Athena’s daughter. Now that he no longer cared about Nina, he could treat her just as heartlessly.
Athena didn’t know whether to pity Nina or mock her bad luck.
But if Lewis had never found her real daughter, did that mean her child was still missing somewhere?
Her emotions were a mess. She thought she’d finally found her child, but it all turned out to be another false hope.
“Let’s go. We need to make a statement,” Zaden said softly as he walked toward her.
Athena snapped out of it and nodded quietly.
At the police station, Athena saw Lewis again.
He looked like the cops had already chewed him out, and now he was a wreck. His earlier
arrogance was gone.
The moment he spotted her, he begged, “Athena, please, ask Zaden to get me out.”
