Caroline stored the white cat’s body inside her storage space. She planned to bury it later in Farm One once she got back.
Holding the cat’s tail, she carefully opened the stairwell door and began heading down.
After a few steps, she saw a big number 9 painted on the wall. So, this building had nine floors in total.
When she reached the 8th–floor entrance, three pairs of glowing green eyes stared at her from the shadows.
They were mutant cats.
Caroline noticed this floor was another factory.
This one produced canned beef and chicken.
She raised an eyebrow. Well, isn’t that convenient? Raven’s favorites.
Hooking the cat’s tail onto her belt, she stepped inside.
The mutant cats saw her, froze for a moment, and
Sure enough, Caroline had guessed right.
The instant Caroline walked in carrying the body of their dead kind, they shrieked and ran away in fear.
Caroline let out a slow breath, finally relieved.
Without wasting time, she began grabbing cans as fast as she could.
But unlike the 9th floor, many of these were already damaged or ripped open by the mutant
cats.
She only kept the ones still intact, placing them carefully into her storage space,
Once she cleared the 8th floor, she went down to the 7th, 6th, and 5th floors.
The same thing happened each time. Once she entered, the mutant cats wailed and fled.
Along the way, she ran into the same big black cat that didn’t seem too happy about her being

there. It hissed at her a few times, trying to look tough, but in the end, it still turned and leapt
away.
On these floors, Caroline found more canned meat.
But the biggest surprise came on the 5th floor; it was a pet food factory.
No wonder all the mutant cats gathered here.
Most of the cans had already been torn open and eaten, but Caroline still managed to collect a few hundred.
Before she left, she paused, studying the pet food production line stretching across the room. Her eyebrows lifted again.
She packed the entire set of machines into her storage space. Someday, maybe she could make her own food for Raven.
With that idea, she went back upstairs and collected two more regular canning lines for good
measure.
When she finally looked towards the stairs leading to the 4th floor, she hesitated.
From the papers Caroline found, she learned that the warehouse was just a few floors below.
The upper floors of the building were production lines, but everything below them–four full levels and two underground–was used for meat storage.
Six entire floors. It was basically one giant freezer. The factory had built it with stainless–steel walls, sealed tight, powered by its generators.
According to the blueprint in the contract, the lower levels were connected by one main door and an internal staircase.
Usually, workers from the production line used an outdoor stairway in the back, but when they needed to access the cold–storage area, they entered through the stairway on the fourth floor.
After reading the description, Caroline was sure this freezer had stayed sealed–acid rain wouldn’t have reached it. That was why she decided to take the risk and came here.
Still, she noticed something odd. This building sat a little lower than hers. In her building, the acid rain had flooded up to the 4th floor. Here, it reached between the 4th and 5th floors.
And now, at the turn of the staircase, a window had cracked open. Acid rain had poured in.
