But Kay didn’t plan to let her go. She opened both doors wide and charged straight at Freya, swinging the knife again.
“Freya, how dare you come here and scream? Did you forget who ruined my life?”
Kay’s first strike came down hard, cutting right through Freya’s shoulder.
Freya screamed in pain and begged Kay to stop.
But Kay’s face stayed cold as she looked at Freya like she was already dead.
To be honest, Kay was nervous too.
This was only the second time she had killed someone. And this time, the person she wanted to kill was once her friend.
But now, she was her enemy.
“Kay, please, I’m begging you. Don’t kill me. Please.”
Freya cried so hard that her face was wet with tears.
Now she regretted coming to mess with the people on the 66th floor.
I saw what they were capable of before leaving the apartments. So why did I fool myself into thinking that my tricks for dealing with men would work on them?
Kay looked down at Freya, who kept crying, her mind torn but her heart firm. She raised her hand again, this time aiming at Freya’s neck,
But before she could strike, a strong kick knocked her aside.
“Stop!”
A loud, steady voice came from behind.
Kay turned and saw several people in army coats walking toward her, the one in front looking
serious and tired.

“Even in the apocalypse, you can’t just kill people. This building will soon be turned into an official shelter under military control.”
It was Niko.
He had agreed to Freya’s plan but hadn’t let her go up alone.
From the start, he had soldiers watching below, afraid that the people on the 66th floor really did have guns.
That morning, he came to check things himself and happened to see Kay about to stab Freya.
“Lieutenant Richter! Please save me!”
Freya ran straight into his arms.
And just like that, Niko rescued her.
He even gave Kay a stern lecture.
Kay didn’t say a word the whole time. Only when Niko was called away did she speak coldly, “Lieutenant Richter, if every crime could be solved with a lecture, and if everyone listened to reason, you wouldn’t be so overwhelmed every day. Freya will pay for what she’s done. You can protect her today, but not forever.”
Niko frowned slightly but said nothing.
He already had more problems than he could handle. He was glad to stop one crisis, but he couldn’t fix them all.
Kay watched the direction Freya had gone, gripping the knife tightly. She told herself there would be another chance.
When she went back inside, Caroline finally stepped out.
She had heard everything but didn’t come out, wanting to see how Kay would handle it.
After all, among the three of them, Kay was the weakest.
“It’s a shame Freya got saved,” Caroline said with a sigh.
Meanwhile, after being rescued, Freya clutched the sleeve of the young soldier who helped her. “Hey, stay with me, please? I’m scared.”
The soldier was only 19, serving his 2nd year in the army.
