Right now, Mick stared at Caroline with a twisted grin, thinking of all the humiliation he had suffered back in the apartment. Heh, Caroline, looks like your dog’s not as strong as mine. How about you come with me? As long as we stay away from those soldiers, we can rule this.
He clearly did not take the black dog beside Caroline seriously.
Raven, however, tensed up, his muscles coiling as a low growl rumbled from his chest–clearly provoked by Mick’s words.
Caroline sighed softly.
She glanced around and noticed the spot they were in. There were two unfinished buildings standing nearby.
The pile of tables and chairs blocking the road must have been dragged out from some nearby office.
No wonder these people were lying in wait here. It really was a good spot for an ambush- deserted, no witnesses, and the long stretch of road made escape nearly impossible.
Additionally, the road was connected to two busy commercial districts, where survivors might still go scavenging for food.
Out of the corner of her eye, Caroline noticed two bodies lying nearby on the snowy ground.
It was a naked woman clutching a boy in her arms.
blood pooled beneath
Their faces were twisted in agony–the boy’s throat had been torn open, him, and one of his eyes hung loose from the socket. It was a brutal, horrifying sight.
The woman was kneeling, holding the boy tightly as if still trying to protect him even in death. Her body was also covered in blood, with deep claw marks along her waist.
Just looking at them, Caroline could already imagine the horror they had gone through before dying.
Snow kept falling, half–covering the corpses, but from the looks of it, they could not have died. more than a few hours ago.
A little farther off, she saw even more bodies under the snow–children, old people, women.

Chapter 184 Tables Turned
What shocked her the most was that even if the women were elderly, they were also stripped
naked.
Disgust welled up inside her. These monsters are worse than animals.
“You killed them? Caroline asked, her voice low.
Mick held the leash of his dog, General, and stepped forward, eyeing her from head to toe. “Caroline, you don’t wanna end up like them, do you?”
Caroline let out a long breath and checked her watch. She had already wasted ten minutes. here.
No time to keep dragging this out.
“Raven, go.”
As she gave the order, her gaze flicked to General. She could not help but feel a pang of pity.
Most animals did not really understand good or evil–they just followed instincts, the urge to hunt, the need to survive, and the loyalty to their humans.
People always said a dog turned bad, but the truth was, it was usually the owner’s fault..
Raven had been itching to move, waiting for her signal.
The crowd burst into laughter.
They were shouting, “General’s unbeatable!“, “Rip it apart!“, and “That tiny dog thinks it can win?”
Under the jeers, Raven’s blue eyes grew colder, step by step closing in.
General bared his teeth, mouth stained with blood and bits of flesh.
But when his gaze met Raven’s, he froze.
Then, a low whine came from General as he tucked his tail and backed away.
Mick frowned. “General, what are you doing? Attack!”
Yet, General only trembled harder, fear taking over.
Raven bared his fangs, a deep growl vibrating in the air.
