His Private Chef (by Amycee) novel Chapter 111

Chapter 111

My wife, Laura. You’ve met her. We love each other deeply, but in the beginningIt was hard. We fought constantly. Not because the love wasn’t there, but because I was stubborn. I avoided conflict. She wanted me to slow down, to be present. I convinced myself she was asking me to fall behind.

He hesitated, like the next words cost more than he was ready to spend.

One night, after yet another fight, I left. Gone for three days. No calls. I didn’t know she was pregnant again.

I turned to him slowly.

She fell that night,he said. No one was around. By the time help came, we’d lost the baby.

Pain flickered across his features. The kind that doesn’t soften with time.

I’ve had a lot of success. Built more than most men dream of. But nothing haunts me like that moment. Nothing ever will.

I swallowed hard, suddenly cold.

Problems don’t vanish when you walk away,he said quietly. They wait. And sometimes they turn into something worse.”

Then he looked directly at me.

I don’t know what happened between you and Liam. I’m not here to pry. But I know what I see. You’re the woman my son can’t breathe without. The one holding the reins.

It caught me off guard.

I came because I’ve lived the cost of silence, and I don’t want that for either of you.

He gave me one last look before the driver opened the door. I stepped out slowly, carrying the weight of everything I’d just heard.

I didn’t wait until morning.

I showered, changed, grabbed my keys, and drove to Liam’s house in the dead of night.

The gates parted in silence, like they already knew I was coming.

Inside, the house was dark and quiet, but I knew the path. I didn’t need light to find him.

His bedroom door creaked slightly as I walked in.

The outline of his body lay on the bed, turned away, motionless.

228 Vouchers,

I climbed in beside him, casing under the sheets, careful not to wake him, until I heard his voice.

I should’ve fought it harder,he whispered. The moment I saw you in my kitchen, I should’ve ended the contract and walked away.

I turned toward him, eyes adjusting in the dark. You were awake?

Barely. But my mind knew. It’s been waiting for you. Even when I sleep, it still waits for you.

I smiled, even as my chest squeezed. And yet you were talking about fighting feelings.

He exhaled. I couldn’t. Even if I tried.

I reached for his hand under the blanket. Thank you for choosing me.

He went quiet for a beat, then asked, If the roles were reversed and I was the one caught in a situation, would you choose me too?

Liam,” I whispered, “always.

His fingers squeezed mine. Then don’t thank me for doing the same.

I crawled closer, wrapped my arms around him. God, I’m so lucky.

No,he murmured, pressing a kiss to my forehead. “We both are.

He shifted slightly, looking at me seriously. Promise me something.

What?

No more breaks. No more space. Whatever comes next, we face it together. No walking away.

I nodded, breath catching. I promise. Just us. Against whatever tries to pull us apart.

He smiled, tension melting off his face.

I grinned. You know, you should thank your dad. I was planning to come in the morning, but he

sped that up.

Liam blinked. Waitmy father came to see you?

I nodded. Apparently, you made it very clear in your meeting that you’ve been miserable without me.

He groaned. Remind me not to let emotions slip into boardrooms again.

I smirked. Well, I am pretty unforgettable.
