Chapter 150
His fingers slipped under my dress, and the door swung open.
We froze. Breathless. My body still pinned to the desk, his hand still on my thigh. The silence cracked around us as both our heads jerked toward the door, hearts thundering, dread rushing in before recognition did.
Kelvin.
Heat flooded my cheeks as I tried to pull away, but Liam wouldn’t release me. He drew me firmly back into his lap as though daring anyone to object.
“My assistant must have found herself a new job,” Liam said flatly.
Kelvin pulled out the chair and sat, his calmness edged with defiance. “Your assistant did nothing. It was your father. He called and told her to let me in. We both know you wouldn’t have.”
“Good. Saves us the pretense.”
Kelvin let his gaze linger far too long on me, on us, before finally speaking.
“I’m here about the land my father wants to purchase. Uncle sent me to get your opinion so things can move forward.”
Liam flipped through the documents Kelvin brought, dismantling every proposed location with calm rigor. His reasoning was sharp, relentless, every counterpoint a reminder of why people came to him for deals.
Watching him command the conversation, I saw again what made him unstoppable.
Finally, Liam set the papers aside. “If that’s all, I’d like to get back to what you interrupted.”
I smacked his arm lightly. “Liam…”
Kelvin’s eyes finally flicked to me. “And you, Emily? How are you?”
I forced a polite smile. “I’m great.”
He studied me a beat too long, then stood. Without another word, he left.

I turned to Liam with a grin. “You’re handsome, and the body speaks for itself. But the brains? That’s the real jackpot. Our kid better get those from you.”
His eyes sollened, pride flickering there. “She will,” he said with quiet conviction. Then his smirk returned, and his hand slid back up my thigh. “But first, I’ve got unfinished business with you.”
I laughed, helpless as he took me hard and fast all over again.
The next morning, I woke up determined to finally test myself in the kitchen, maybe even try a live stream. I had barely made it to the living room when the front door opened.
Liam’s mother entered with her usual bubbly charm, filling the space with warmth and authority all at once.”
“Mrs. Black…” I began.
She waved a hand. “Laura. How many times must I tell you?” Her eyes flicked over me, already calculating. “Perfect, you’re dressed. Saves us time. Come with me.”
Before I could ask questions, she was already steering me outside where her driver waited.
We drove only a few streets before stopping at my mother’s house. She was waiting on the porch, dressed to go. My jaw dropped as she climbed into the car with a conspiratorial smile.
“Where are we going?” I asked, glancing between them.
Neither answered.
It wasn’t until we pulled up at a luxury baby boutique that I realized their plan.
“Really?” I groaned. “I’m barely in my first trimester!”
They ignored me completely, bustling inside with the excitement of kids let loose in a candy store. Between them, I didn’t stand a chance. Cribs, strollers, clothes, I lost track of how many things they piled up. At one point, they made me sit so I wouldn’t “stress the baby.”
I snapped a picture of the mountain of baby things and sent it to Sophia.
Me: Come rescue me before they buy out the whole store.
Her reply came fast: Oh, I’ll give Mom hell for leaving me out. But really… I kind of love how
