Chapter 62
“Remind me to call Mom and Dad tomorrow,” Liam said with a sigh, brushing past her as he ran a hand through his damp hair. “We seriously need to get you your own place. This is spiraling.”
Sophia gasped with mock horror. “Are you seriously kicking out your only sister over a girl? Damn. The sex must be incredible.”
Heat rushed to my checks. I instinctively tried to step back inside with Liam, but Sophia reached out and grabbed my wrist.
“Oh no, missy. You’re not escaping that easily. You’re coming with me.
She dragged me toward her room, talking the entire time.
“Someone’s clearly been corrupted… and I want every scandalous detail.‘

As soon as we were in her room, she threw herself onto the bed like she owned the world. I stood awkwardly, still damp in my towel, wishing the ground would open up.
“So?” she propped herself up on her elbows, grinning. “Did it happen?”
I blinked. “What?”
Sophia rolled her eyes. “Please. Don’t play dumb. I walked in on you two glowing like fresh fireflies. The air literally smelled like sex. So? Spill.”
I crossed my arms. “Sophia, that’s your brother. Have some shame.”
She scoffed. “Shame left the chat the day I walked in on my parents making out in the living room. Come on, Em. Just tell me. Did it happen?”
I didn’t say anything.
She squealed. “Oh my god, it did! And you’re still standing? Props to you.”
I groaned. “Can you please not be like this?”

“Oh, I’m just getting started. Did you guys use protection? I am so not ready to be an aunt.‘
I covered my face with both hands. “Sophia!”
She laughed harder. “Actually, you know what? I wouldn’t mind. If you’re already pregnant. I get dibs on naming the baby. Girl or boy, doesn’t matter. As long as it’s named after me. Imagine a little Sophie running around.”
“You’re impossible.”
She smirked. “And you’re in love.”
“I am not.
“Oh, please. Look at you. You’re practically glowing, smiling at nothing, humming like a Disney princess. What is this? Chapter one of a rom–com?”
I sighed and flopped onto the chair by her vanity. “Okay. Maybe I like him. A lot. But we haven’t defined anything yet. It’s kind of… just happening.”
Sophia tilted her head. “And you’re okay with that?”
I hesitated. “Would it be nice to have clarity? Sure. But what we have right now… it feels good. The Liam I’ve seen these past few days? I like this version. If taking it slow means seeing more of that… I’m in no rush.”
Sophia looked uncharacteristically thoughtful. “He’s softer with you. It’s weird. I’ve never seen him like this before.”
Before I could respond, she snapped out of it.
“Anyway, if you ever do get married, I want to be your maid of honor. And flower girl. And DJ. And bridesmaid. I’ll multitask.”
“You’re insufferable. Between you and Jay, I don’t know who’s worse.‘
We both burst into laughter.
A few more jokes and pillow jabs later, I told her I needed to rest. I was genuinely exhausted from the whirlwind day–shopping, swimming, sex, more sex, and I needed to breathe.
Sophia wagged her brows. “Exhausted from what? All that cardio? Huh?”

I threw a pillow at her. “Go to sleep!”
She snorted, tossing the blanket over herself. “Fine. But don’t go tiptoeing back to his room.”
“I make no promises.”
I decided to grab some water from the kitchen before heading to Liam’s room.
The kitchen was dim and quiet. I was pulling a bottle of water from the fridge when I felt strong arms slide around my waist.
I squeaked.
“Relax. It’s just me.”
Liam’s voice was smooth, low, and far too smug.
“I thought you’d be asleep,” I whispered, trying to ignore the way my heart skipped.
“With you around? Not a chance. The night’s still young.”
I giggled softly. “Liam, Sophia’s around. Maybe we should, you know… keep it PG for a few hours.”
