His Private Chef (by Amycee) novel Chapter 94

Chapter 94

Liam’s office still had that quiet, restrained luxurysleek glass, dark wood, expensive silence. His assistant looked up as I entered.

Miss Emily, she said with a knowing smile. He’s in a meeting, but you can wait inside. You’re on his allaccess list now. Family, essentially.

That word snagged in my chest.

Family.

I stepped into his office, the door whispering shut behind me.

And then I saw her.

Cassie.

Perched on the edge of the leather couch like she belonged there. Perfect blowout. Red lips. Heels crossed delicately.

She looked up, met my eyes, and smiled like a cat watching a bird realize the window’s open.

Well, she purred, gaze sweeping over me. I thought I’d be the only surprise today.

Walking past Cassie felt like stepping over clutterunnecessary, loud, and easy to ignore.

There was no need to ask why she was there, and even less reason to acknowledge her with a smile.

Because women like Cassie? They thrive on being seen.

And silence? Silence starves them.

But she couldn’t help herself.

You know, I used to sit right there too. Years ago.Her voice dripped behind me as I took my seat by Liam’s window. The only difference is, he’d have been waiting for me with coffee and a kiss.

Still no response.

guess no one told you, sweetheart. I’m Liam’s first love.A pause. And the only woman he’s ever said foreverto.

My nails dug into my palm. Calm, Emily. Stay calm.

God, it’s kind of sad,she added with a tilt to her tone, how you girls always think you’re the exception. When really, you’re just the placeholder between the real ones.

That one almost landed. Almost.

But I turned, met her eyes, and offered her the kind of smile that doesn’t reach the soul.

Are you finished?

No.she said. Not even close.

Of course not. Women like her never know when they’ve already lost.

You know why I’m here?she asked, voice low and conspiratorial, like she was letting me in on

a secret.

To embarrass yourself?

Her confidence cracked. Just barely. But I saw it.

I’m here, she pressed, to get my man back. You’ve had your fun, but let’s not pretend Liam Black belongs to you.”

I leaned back, folding my arms. No raised voice. No broken sweat. Unapologetically calm.

That, for some reason, enraged her more than if I had screamed.

Her lips twitched. Her eyes narrowed,

You think being silent makes you powerful. It doesn’t. It makes you predictable. He’ll get bored. He always does.

Cassie.

We both turned.

Liam stood at the door, eyes sharp, expression unreadable. For a moment, he didn’t move. Just took in the scene, me sitting like I owned the floor, Cassie standing like she had something to prove.

The air shifted.

It was my move now.

I stood with the kind of grace that warned of a storm before it hit.

And then I walked to Liam.

Not like a woman begging for attention.

Like a woman who already had it.

Just as I reached him, I tilted my head and smiled like a spoiled girlfriend.

Babyyy, you left for work without kissing me goodbye.

He blinked once. Then again.

I leaned closer, fingers brushing his chest.

I’m here to collect it. You know I can’t function without my morning kiss.

He caught on instantly.

His arm wrapped around my waist, confident and smooth.

I’m sorry, love. I was rushing for a meeting.”

Hmm. Can I get it now?

He didn’t answer. Just leaned in.

And kissed me.

God help me, he kissed me.
