His Untamed Rose novel Chapter 68

Cedric pressed his lips together, letting her criticize him without protest. When he finally spoke, his voice was gentle, “You’re being a little too hard on her.”

A short while later, the three of them sat down for dinner.

The two men soon drifted into a lively conversation about recent business at the company, then moved on to discuss the growth of enterprises at home and abroad.

Though the discussion seemed spirited, Cedric couldn’t help noticing that Soren seemed distracted. Several times, when Cedric asked him something, Soren just kept his eyes on his plate, eating in silence as if he hadn’t heard.

Meanwhile, Seraphina was more interested in the melodramatic TV show playing in the background, watching with rapt attention as she ate.

After dinner, Cedric joined the other two for a stroll outside the manor.

A black vintage car from the Royce family sat idling at the end of the drive, waiting for them.

Just before they parted ways, Cedric glanced at Soren, who looked utterly preoccupied.

Cedric couldn’t help but smile. “Is something up at the stables, bro?”

“No,” Soren replied, shaking his head.

“If there’s anything I can help with, you know you can ask.” Cedric gave his shoulder a reassuring pat. “And about that matchmaking thing you mentioned, I’ll keep an eye out for you.”

This time, Soren seemed to snap out of his reverie. He smiled, his expression suddenly clear. “No need, Cedric.”

Cedric looked up at him, curious.

Soren’s smile deepened. “Because I’ve already met someone who took my breath away at first sight.”

“Oh?” Cedric and Seraphina both perked up with interest.

Seraphina tugged at Soren’s sleeve, grinning. “You never told us! Who is it?”

Soren laughed softly, his gaze turning modest. “We don’t know each other well yet. I’d like to take my time and get to know her.”

Seraphina was instantly delighted. The frustration she’d felt over Winona’s earlier outburst vanished in a heartbeat.

After seeing them off, Cedric returned to the manor, slipped off his black overcoat and handed it to a waiting housekeeper, then made his way straight up to the second floor.
