His Untamed Rose novel Chapter 7

Lumina knew exactly how twisted and dangerous Jurgen could be. Yet to protect her secret, she had no choice but to comply with his demands.

But if she really went tonight, there was no telling if she or her babies would make it through alive.

Part of her had still hoped that Cedric would remember the three years they’d spent together, that he might step in, make an excuse, and shield her one last time.

But clearly, Cedric couldn’t care less whether she stayed or left.

Lumina closed her eyes, not surprised in the least.

Hadn’t Stella already mentioned their candlelit dinner tonight? Of course there’d be a romantic night ahead for them. There was no room left in Cedric’s heart for her, no concern for whether she lived or died.

In that instant, every eye in the room landed on Lumina.

Though everyone found the situation absurd, they were all too eager to watch the drama unfold, waiting to see what she would do.

Lumina had always been the kind of person who would rather die than be threatened.

But now, with two babies to protect, she’d found her weakness. No matter how stubborn she was, she had no choice but to give in.

Her face drawn and pale, she closed her eyes for a moment, then forced herself to speak, her voice strained, “As long as Mr. Harding is happy, and he’s willing to consider a partnership with our company… of course, I’ll accompany him.”

The conference room fell silent, so quiet you could hear a pin drop.

Lumina could feel Cedric’s cold gaze fixed on her. He probably hadn’t expected her to agree so readily.

Cedric’s voice was low, almost amused,“Well then, I wish the two of you a pleasant evening.”

No one noticed how, in the shadowed corner, he clenched his pen so hard his knuckles turned white, veins bulging across the back of his hand.

...

Lumina got through the rest of the meeting in a daze.

Back in her office, she gulped down several mouthfuls of water, her lower abdomen twisting with a dull ache.

Sweat broke out across her forehead. She pressed a trembling hand to her stomach, whispering softly, “I’m sorry, sweetheart… Mommy’s nerves are a bit shot right now…”
