Karma Doesn’t Sleep: The Revenge Queen Rises novel Chapter 100

Inside the marine park, Kristen had Penny in her arms, both of them laughing as they played with the dolphins. Penny’s giggles were infectious, her cheeks pink from all the excitement. Clive stood nearby, Kristen’s purse slung over his arm, watching them with a soft look on his face.

“Daddy, can you take a picture of me and Momma Kristen?” Penny called out, turning to Clive with wide, hopeful eyes.

Clive smiled and pulled out his phone, snapping a few pictures of the girls.

A staff member nearby couldn’t help but watch, a little envy in his expression. “You all look like such a perfect family,” he said, a bit starstruck. “Honestly, you’re all good-looking and so happy together. Would you mind if I took a photo for our family day promotion? It’d be great for our next campaign.”

Clive kept his tone polite but distant. “Thank you, but that’s not necessary.”

Not quite ready to give up, the staff member tried again. “If you’d rather not have the kids in the photo, maybe just you and your wife? A couple’s shot would work too.”

Clive was starting to lose patience, though his face didn’t show it. He was about to explain they weren’t married, but his phone rang. He excused himself and moved to a quieter spot as he picked up. “Marian, what’s up?”

Off to the side, Timmy sat on a bench, totally absorbed in his Rubik’s cube. His little fingers worked fast, solving it in seconds, lost in his own world.

He glanced at Kristen and Penny, then mumbled under his breath, “She’s not my mom…”

Kristen set Penny down and flexed her arms, trying to work out the soreness. “Penny, look at your brother over there. He’s playing all by himself. Why don’t you go keep him company?” she said gently.

“Okay!” Penny said, and bounced away toward Timmy.

Kristen walked over to the staff member who’d been talking to Clive earlier. She offered him a friendly smile. “Hi there. You wanted a picture of me and my husband, right?”

The staff member seemed caught off guard by her warmth, his tone softening. “Yes, that’s right. Honestly, you two look so good together. We have a family event next week, and we’d love to use your picture for our ad. I promise, we’d never share your personal info.”

Kristen nodded understandingly. “My husband isn’t big on having his photo taken, but I do have a good picture of us together. I can send it to you.”
