After Kristen passed on the news, Lena could barely contain her excitement. She put down her phone, grinning as she announced it to everyone nearby.
“Kristen’s bringing Salmeron over—right now!”
Just as she predicted, Kristen was clearly Salmeron’s top priority.
Lena glanced at the tightly shut doors, her eyes gleaming with smug satisfaction.
Just wait until Salmeron gets here. I can’t wait to see how he puts that little witch Amelia in her place.

Meanwhile, in the lab, Amelia had been working all morning without a break. She finally took off her glasses and massaged the stiffness from her neck. Picking up her phone, she noticed four missed calls from Clive—the latest just three minutes ago.
She paused, debating whether to call him back.
That’s when Rachel burst in, looking frazzled and worried, her phone still in hand. She’d just gotten a threatening text from Lena.
“Bad news, boss—Lena really went to Kristen. Kristen’s on her way with Salmeron. They’ll be here any minute!”
Amelia didn’t even blink. Calmly, she took off her lab coat and headed for the door. Rachel rushed to follow, but Amelia stopped her.
“You stay here. I need you for something else.”
Rachel hesitated. “But, boss, you can’t handle them alone…”
Amelia smiled. “Would having you with me really help?”
Rachel knew her own limits and let out a small sigh. “I mean, I can’t fight, and I’m definitely not good with arguments, but if someone tries to push you around, at least I can take half the heat.”
Amelia couldn’t help but smile at Rachel’s sincerity.
