Karma Doesn’t Sleep: The Revenge Queen Rises novel Chapter 115

There were only two people left in the office: Clive and Kristen. Clive had just hung up after calling the family estate, asking the butler to check if Mrs. Salmeron was awake yet.

As soon as he set his phone down, Lena’s angry voice cut through the quiet. Clive’s brow furrowed—he was already fed up.

Amelia, again.

It was only his first morning back at work, and she’d already delivered two “surprises.”

Earlier, Kristen had shown up at the office only to be stopped in the lobby, completely confused, holding a termination letter from HR. Clive had called the HR manager right away, only to find out the order had come straight from the board—skipping over him entirely.

Digging deeper, he discovered it was Mrs. Salmeron herself who’d issued the command—even though she hadn’t involved herself in company business for years.

Sure, Mrs. Salmeron now spent her days quietly at home, but back in the day, she’d been a legend in the business world. She and her late husband, Finn, had built Cloudcrest from the ground up, with her family providing half the original funding.

She still held seventeen percent of the company’s original shares, which gave her real power on the board. After Finn died, she’d left the daily operations to her eldest son, Klaus Bailey, but the shares were still very much in her name.

Which meant, if she wanted, she could pick up the phone and order HR to fire Kristen—no questions asked.

Clive didn’t need to guess what had happened. Amelia and Kristen had butted heads the last time Amelia came to the office, and Mrs. Salmeron had always had a soft spot for Amelia, her favorite granddaughter-in-law. It was obvious—Amelia must’ve whispered something to the old lady, and now Kristen was out.

And now the entire R&D team—every single one of whom Kristen had hired as interim manager—was on Amelia’s bad side, too.

Clive’s eyes darkened, his handsome face turning icy.
