Karma Doesn’t Sleep: The Revenge Queen Rises novel Chapter 153

Donna could tell Amelia wasn’t kidding around this time and almost stepped in.

“Ma’am—”

“Donna, take a break,” Amelia cut her off, her voice calm and cool. She looked straight at Penny, who sat across from her.

Amelia didn’t raise her voice or even frown, but somehow that made her presence even more intimidating.

Donna knew better than to argue. She quietly headed out to tidy up the garden.

Amelia sat back and started eating her breakfast, completely unbothered. Her message to Penny was clear: she had all the time in the world and could outwait her if she had to.

The truth was, Amelia’s day was jam-packed, but she refused to let Penny see her sweat. She knew Penny was quick to sense any weakness. If Amelia slipped up even a little, Penny would jump at the chance to take control.

Penny sat with her chin up, little legs swinging stubbornly under the table. She even shoved aside the napkin Amelia had handed her to clean up the spilled milk.

In Penny’s mind, Amelia was just putting on an act, trying to scare her. And if she got in trouble over something so small, Dad would totally take her side and yell at Amelia for making a fuss.

Timmy had already finished his breakfast. He set down his empty glass and checked the clock; their driver would be there in three minutes.

“Penny, I’ll help you clean up. It’ll be fast,” he offered, hoping to smooth things over.

“No, I don’t want to!” Penny shook her head so hard her hair bounced. She huffed, “People who get down on the floor and clean are just… lower class. That’s their job.”

Amelia’s fork hit the table with a sharp clang.

Her face darkened as she snapped, “Who taught you to say that?”
