Karma Doesn’t Sleep: The Revenge Queen Rises novel Chapter 184

Amelia was planning to go straight home at first. By now, she figured her two kids would already be back from school.

But halfway there, her phone buzzed—it was Donna.

“Donna? What’s up?” Amelia asked.

“Mrs. Carter, I just got a call from Mr. Carter. He said there’s no need to make dinner tonight. He’s having the driver take Timmy and Penny straight to his office. He’ll bring them home himself later.”

Donna knew Amelia was always trying to find more time with the kids, so she added, “I made Timmy and Penny’s favorite—mango sago and fruit salad. I just sent it over to the office for you. You can give it to them when you see them.”

Amelia felt a wave of gratitude for Donna’s thoughtfulness.

“Thank you, Donna. Really, I appreciate it.”

She hung up and told her driver to change course for the company.

When they arrived, Amelia spotted the driver Donna had sent with the desserts. She took the bag, thanked him, and headed straight for Clive’s office.

Clive might have failed her as a husband, but when it came to the kids, he was a great dad. He’d even set up a small, cozy room inside his office just for Timmy and Penny, stocked with all sorts of toys.

In the elevator, Amelia caught her reflection in the mirrored walls. She looked tired, her hair a mess, clothes rumpled—not exactly put-together. She thought of Penny, who even at her age adored pretty things and loved it when everyone around her looked their best. Walking in like this, Amelia could already imagine her daughter’s unimpressed face.

After thinking it over for a second, she decided to stash the desserts in the fridge in the staff lounge near Clive’s office before seeing the kids.
