Karma Doesn’t Sleep: The Revenge Queen Rises novel Chapter 194

“Amelia, do you really think this is funny?” Clive’s usual edge disappeared, leaving just a tired frown as he stared at her.

For a split second, Amelia could have sworn she saw disgust flicker in his eyes. Like she’d just asked him to do something insane.

She looked down and laughed softly, but there was nothing warm about it.

“If you can’t give me what I want, why even ask?” Her words were light, but they cut cold.

Clive’s whole face shut down, his gaze suddenly distant. “When did you become like this?”

Amelia almost lost it right then. She wanted to scream. Who made her like this? Who pushed her to break and left her in pieces? How did Clive have the nerve to look at her like she’d let him down?

But what was the point in telling a man who never really loved her? It would only make her look pathetic.

She didn’t believe for a second that Clive didn’t know about the desserts—that Donna hadn’t mentioned Amelia was the one who brought them over for the kids. Clive had to know. He just didn’t care.

Out of nowhere, Clive’s face went pale. He clutched his stomach and hunched over in pain.

Amelia knew the signs immediately. His stomach problems were acting up again. He’d had them forever—nothing ever fully fixed it.

She’d spent years taking care of him, trying every remedy, testing every medicine herself, even when it made her sick. She’d pushed herself until she finally got him stable.

Right before she gave birth, she’d worried something might happen to her, so she’d written out all his prescriptions and given them to the family doctor. She even paid for ten years in advance so he’d always have what he needed, delivered every month to the house.

“Amelia.” Clive reached out, grabbing her arm, his voice tight with pain. “My stomach hurts.”

He was so used to this—Amelia always being there, always fixing things for him, no matter what.

Those five years she was gone, lost in a coma, he hadn’t realized how much he depended on her. Now that she was back, his old habits just snapped right back into place.
