Karma Doesn’t Sleep: The Revenge Queen Rises novel Chapter 208

People were coming and going everywhere. Clive didn’t want to cause a scene, so he grabbed Amelia’s wrist and dropped his voice. “Amelia, I know what you want. Tonight, when we’re home, I’ll show you exactly what you’re after. Right now, as your husband, I’m giving you one last chance…”

He stepped closer, and the scent of Kristen’s perfume clung to him so strongly that Amelia almost gagged.

But honestly, the smell was nothing compared to what came out of his mouth next.

“Working with Ms. Watts is the best choice for you and for the company.”

Amelia looked up, meeting Clive’s eyes. This was the face she’d loved for half her life, the one she could picture even with her eyes closed. Now, it just made her nauseous.

“Then let me say this one last time too.” She yanked her wrist free and leaned in, her voice cold as ice. Her glare shot past Clive to Kristen standing behind him. She spoke each word slowly and clearly. “I will never let Kristen ruin my project.”

With that, Amelia turned on her heel and walked away.

Clive had to take a deep breath to keep himself together.

He’d been patient. He’d done more than enough for her.

Kristen moved to his side, sounding a little helpless. “It’s one thing if Amelia hates me, but Salmeron, you’re doing everything for her, and she still…”

“Don’t worry about her.” Clive’s stare was dark as he watched Amelia disappear into the elevator. He turned away and headed straight for the private elevator to the executive office.

He knew exactly why Amelia acted so proud.

She still thought she was the genius who once stunned the whole of Baybridge University and the medical world.

But she’d been out of the game for five years. The world had changed so fast. In this field, five months could bring a new breakthrough, let alone five years.

After her precious research project failed tomorrow and Mr. Packman showed her the door at West Medicine, she’d have no choice but to come crawling back to him.

That thought made Clive feel a little better.

Back in his office, he’d barely sat down before his assistant came in with two files to sign.

Clive glanced through them, signed with the pen his assistant handed him.

“I’ll be going now, Salmeron,” the assistant said, gathering up the papers and turning to leave.

“Wait…” Clive remembered Amelia’s hurt ankle. It had looked pretty bad.

He hesitated, then did something he almost never did. “Go get some ointment for bruises and swelling. Have it sent to R&D.”

The assistant blurted out, “For Ms. Watts?”

Clive frowned a bit. “For R&D Division One. Ms. Sadinton.”

Looking a little embarrassed, the assistant scratched his head. “Of course, Salmeron. I’ll go now.”
