Karma Doesn’t Sleep: The Revenge Queen Rises novel Chapter 211

Donna couldn’t shake the memory of Clive clutching his stomach in pain the night before. The image was still fresh in her mind, leaving her unsettled.

“Sir, you had a flare-up last night. Maybe you should skip the drinks today,” she said, worry coloring her voice.

Clive let out a low, dismissive laugh. “Isn’t Amelia coming home soon? With her here, do you really think she’d let me die from a stomachache?”

No matter how tough she’d acted last night, or how determined she was when she left, Amelia had still warmed up his medicine behind his back. She’d even sneaked upstairs to check on him after he was asleep. For all her bravado, Amelia could never really leave him on his own.

After all…

Clive’s gaze drifted to the wall across from him, where a wedding photo hung—a photo they’d only just put back up after five years. In it, Amelia looked breathtaking in her white gown, a smile lighting up her face. Her eyes sparkled as she looked at him, as if every star in the sky had fallen into her gaze and turned into a love so deep it weighed on him.

He didn’t need any proof. Amelia loved him—completely, and always had.

Amelia rushed in, barely pausing in the living room. The first thing she saw was Clive, lounging on the sofa—impossible to ignore.

He was in loungewear, not his usual sharp suit, which softened his usual air of authority. Still, he carried himself with an effortless elegance that never went away. His long legs were crossed, a nearly empty glass on the table in front of him.

Amelia gave him the briefest glance before heading straight upstairs.

Clive heard her, of course, but he was in a foul mood. He didn’t even bother to look at her, waiting for her to come over and apologize. But she just walked past like he didn’t exist.

His jaw tightened. He couldn’t hold it in any longer.

“Amelia!” His voice rang out, edged with anger.

She didn’t stop, didn’t even look back. She’d only come home because she was worried about the kids. She had zero interest in whatever new tantrum Clive was throwing.

But as she reached the stairs, a wave of tension crashed over her. Suddenly, Clive grabbed her arm from behind and pinned her hard against the wall.

He wasn’t holding back—his anger had finally boiled over.

There was a heavy thud as her back hit the cold wall. The pain was sharp, bringing tears to her eyes.
