Karma Doesn’t Sleep: The Revenge Queen Rises novel Chapter 79

Amelia walked to the nearest bus stop and flagged down a cab back to the villa.

She slumped into the backseat, her mood at rock bottom.

Dr. Borgen probably never wanted to see her again. And honestly, she couldn’t blame him. She’d brought this all on herself.

Trying to shake off the gloom, Amelia pulled out her phone. Six missed calls—every single one from Diana.

Of course her phone was on silent. She hadn’t noticed a thing.

She called Diana back right away. Diana picked up at lightning speed.

“Amelia! Are you okay? Did that witch Caroline hit you again? If she does, you better fight back, you hear me? If you can’t win, scream your head off, throw yourself on the ground, make a scene—let someone call the cops! Don’t just stand there and take it!” Diana rattled off, half furious, half exasperated, as if Amelia’s patience was a personal insult.

Amelia tried to answer, “I—”

But Diana was on a roll, not giving her a single chance to speak.

“Caroline is finished. No one messes with my best friend and gets away with it. She lays a finger on you, I’ll make sure her life turns into a living hell!”

Amelia could only sigh.

Diana was so dramatic sometimes.

In the background, she heard Diana’s manager groaning, “I’m begging you, can you stop with the over-the-top lines? You sound like a soap opera villain. No wonder people online call you the Cheesy Queen.”

Diana sniffed, totally unfazed. “Queen or not, I’m still a queen!”

That made Amelia laugh, despite everything.

Sometimes she really did envy Diana—so bold and reckless and endlessly full of life.

“Diana, I’m okay. I fought back, actually. I’m already on my way home.” She didn’t mention running into Ryan—just thinking about him gave her chills. She’d rather pretend he didn’t exist.
