Kneeling for a Second Chance (Sebastian and Valeria) novel Chapter 195

Chapter 195

Sebastian pinched her nose and pressed her against the back of the door. Watching her parted lips and the way her breath grew shallow from struggling to breathe, he asked, Are you a dog or what?

Valeria felt overwhelmed by the scent on him.

It was an intense, unmistakably feminine perfume, with heavy floral notes that hit her in the face.

She pushed against his chest, trying to free herself. She hated that scent on him. She couldn’t stop thinking that before this, he might have been close to someone else.

Sabrina came to her mind, especially since the two of them had arrived together.

Sebastian picked her up and carried her to the couch in a few quick steps.

Her fingers twitched with resistance, but it wasn’t enough to stop him.

He lowered his head and kissed her collarbone through the fabric of her sweater. His fingers traced along her spine, searching for the zipper.

The outfit frustrated him. It was far too much trouble.

Valeria could still smell the strong perfume lingering in the air, making her chest feel tight and uncomfortable.

She drank a little tonight. Her breathing had softened, and she didn’t have the strength to push him away. The alcohol was also making her head spin.

Valeria lay on the couch, and her slender neck was tilted slightly upward.

The crystal chandelier sparkled so brightly that it made her squint. Her gaze wavered, unable to stay clear.

Sebastian’s lips were cool and burning all at once as they brushed her neck, biting lightly against her skin.

Valeria turned her away. Her dark hair fell over her eyes, with a few strands draping over her chest.

Sebastian finally found the zipper. It was hidden low along her waist beneath the sweater dress. He took a deep breath and slipped his hand inside. As he leaned in to kiss Valeria’s lips, he brushed the hair from her face, and his rough fingertips gently wiped the corner of her eye.

Valeria was crying silently. The tears shimmered in her eyes but didn’t fall.

The tension in Sebastian’s face deepened, but he didn’t make another move. He rested his palm against her fair neck as he lifted her face. His voice was hoarse as he asked, Why are you crying?

He realized he had no defense against her tears.

She had seemed fine just moments ago, yet now her eyes were red.

Sebastian looked down at Valeria beneath him. She looked beautiful when she cried, but he

didn’t want to see her that way.

Her long hair fanned out across the emeraldgreen couch. The pale tone of her skin stood out starkly, almost luminously, with only the red at the corners of her eyes giving her a touch of color.

She couldn’t quite see Sebastian’s face. All she saw was a blaze of dazzling light beneath the chandelier, turning his sharp features into a glowing haze.

Valeria’s voice was muffled, and the warmth of liquor lingered on her breath. You smell terrible.

Sebastian, do you really have to sleep with other women and then come to me just to deal with your needs?she asked in a soft, husky voice.

For a heartbeat, Sebastian forgot to breathe.

The next second, Valeria felt herself being lifted off the ground. She let out a soft gasp as a wave of weightlessness swept over her. Instinctively, she wrapped her arms around

Sebastian’s neck for balance.

Sebastian’s lips were pressed into a tight line, and his handsome face darkened. He lifted her easily with one arm, and his hand was steady at her waist as he brought her directly into the bathroom.

On the sink sat an uncapped bottle of perfume.

Sebastian had ordered it moments ago from a nearby convenience store through a delivery app. It was a cheap women’s perfume, strong and almost overpowering, but not unpleasant.

After all the nonsense Mark had pulled that night, Sebastian had showered three times, yet he still thought he could smell it. In desperation, he’d emptied half the bottle on himself.

Sebastian sprayed the perfume right in front of her face. The distance was so close that Valeria sneezed from the overpowering scent.

Her

eyes widened in surprise. A faint flush still lingered at the corners of her eyes as she froze
